David Stratton - a megaphone for cinema and one of Australia’s most feared and loved film critics - has passed.

In his early years, he went to war with the censors, kicking down the doors that kept international art off our screens. He didn’t just review movies - he fought for them, for you, for Underground Art!

His memoir I Peed on Fellini is sharp, funny, and unapologetically honest - a window into the mind of a man who lived and breathed film.

I once partied with David and Margaret for the 25th anniversary of At the Movies - a night of stories, laughter, and a few spilled drinks that left its metaphorical and literal mark on me as a young filmmaker.
