What on earth has happened to facebook today ?????? I am getting heaps and heaps of cat posts from a couple of feline oriented sites. I like cats but I have no wish to have my page overwhelmed by them. Is anyone else having this problem ? I am trying to delete and get rid of the sites but I am outnumbered !!!! Anyone else having this problem ????

The Burnie Show Horse Events Committee would like to sincerely thank all of our very special volunteers who helped us run the 100th Burnie Show last weekend. There was Brielle Gray, who was on the job from Thursday evening till late Saturday, helping put up jumps, take them down again, set up dressage arenas, and take them down again and doing a host of other things for us, and still managing to take hundreds of fantastic photos of people competing. Amanda McHugh, her daughter and the daughter's friend (whose names have escaped me - I'm sorry). They were also helping from Thursday evening till late Saturday setting up and pulling down, and time keeping as well. Rodney, Paula, Taya and Lockie Jupp, who helped set up and take down, and who marshalled show jumpers all Friday, then organised the setting up of the dressage arenas. Samatha McGrath, who stewarded in the ring both days and pencilled for the dressage as well. Julie Coldicutt, who kept the judges and stewards and other volunteers looked after food and drink wise and helped out at the secretary's tent. Bill Broad who came along and did the scoring for the dressage for us. Damien McGinness who assisted with parking and gate duties, and who helped out in the showjumping ring. Helmut Rechberger, Paul Kemp and Paul Gardam, who all helped out putting up jumps, and to all of the other helpers involved with the jumping. To anyone who helped in any way - we are very grateful. We are already looking at a few slight changes to improve things for next year. We hope to see you all there.

Everyone who has entered the horse section of the 2019 100th Burnie Show will have now received information about gate entry times and a few other little "housekeeping rules". The dressage draw and showjumping draw have been sent to competitors entered in those events. Could all competitors in events on the Saturday please note that the dressage will start at 9.am (not 8.am as stated in the schedule) and that the minis and other pony classes will start at 10.am, with the other breeds and official classes commencing at 11.30am. Please remember that the gate will be open from early till 8.45am and will be locked again until 11.am, and will be open till 12.30pm. Please adhere to these times as it is a safety issue and please note that horse competitors will only be allowed to enter at gate 337. It is going to be a fabulous show and the horse events committee looks forward to welcoming all competitors to the new grounds.

All competitors in the horse events at the 2019 Burnie Show will have received an email or message from me with a few housekeeping rules re access to the grounds, to remind them to pick up their competitors bags with numbers etc before competing, and to generally clean up manure and hay and put in the designated areas.
The showjumping draw and dressage draw will be sent out tomorrow to the people entered in those events.
If you haven't received an email from me, I have not received an entry from you.
Good luck to everyone. It is going to be a great show !!!!

The Burnie Show Busy Bees were hard at it last weekend. The first picture shows a bit of cleaning up around the fenceline, and the other two show our Horse Committee President Kathy Coldicutt enjoying herself whizzing about mowing the grass. There was a lot of work done, mowing, clearing stuff, cleaning up, tidying up and preparing. There will be lots more happening over the next couple of weeks as the show is almost upon us. Lots of excitement for the 100th show and the first show on the brand new grounds. I am still inputting entries. If there is a problem with an entry I will email you, otherwise I will email everyone once they are all input. Lots of work to do, not a lot of time. It is all shaping up to being a great show.

ENTRIES for the horse section of Burnie Show will close next Wednesday September 11th. If you haven't already posted your entries, please get them in the mail by Monday so that you don't miss out. All entries go to the treasurer first for checking and then on to me for input.
Thank you to all of those competitors who have already sent your entries.
NOTE TO SHOWJUMPERS - we can confirm that Helmut Reichberger is the course builder for the show and that Anne Reichberger is the SJ judge. There were a couple of errors in the wording of the SJ events in the show schedule, but they have been corrected for the catalogue. For all SJ inquiries, please contact Jen Butler on 0438-357944.
For all other inquiries, please email [email protected].

A lady rang me today with an inquiry about the 2019 Burnie horse show. Unfortunately our answering machine had a bit of a meltdown and I couldn't pick up the return phone number - so I can't ring her back. I have tried a couple of numbers that I think it might be, but no success. So, if you rang me today (late morning) can you please ring me back or email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

I have just been advised that there is an error in the program for the 2019 Burnie Horse show schedule. If you have an Australian Riding Pony Mare over 14.2 and are looking for her saddle class, it will be No. 121a. It has been overlooked in the schedule but will be included in the program. So, please pass the word around to all of the ARP people that the class for larger ridden mares is class 121a. My mistake, so my apologies to everyone concerned.

Schedules for the horse section are available via this site or by emailing me at [email protected]. There are some hard copies at various saddleries and feed stores. Please don't wait until the last minute to get your entries posted. Aust Post is not totally reliable these days, but entries MUST be posted. They do not come directly to me, but via the show treasurer first. Once I have received your entries I will email you and confirm. Entries close on September 11th. Don't miss out.
