WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift

WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift The Bunbury Geographe Gift is a national level running race geared to promote healthy living and the region through the power of athletics.

It offers youth skill-building activities, market stalls, food trucks and more. Held Feb 29 - March 01, 2020. It is a free event and offers youth skill-building activities, market stalls, food trucks and more. It is held at the historic Bunbury Recreation ground and occurs over two days. In 2020 the event will be held February 29 - March 01. The key objectives of the Bunbury Geographe Gift Inc are

as follow: -To promote the opportunity for Western Australian Athletes to have their own event that is nationally recognised. -To encourage the development of athletics within the Bunbury Geographe region in particular and Western Australia in general. -To contribute to the vibrancy of Bunbury's CBD and the Bunbury Geographe region by promoting the region and hinterland focusing on the CBD and region's facilities and lifestyle. -To contribute to the economic development of Bunbury's CBD in general and hospitality, accommodation and retail sectors in particular. -To do all such acts and things as are incidental or subsidiary to all or any of the above. The Bunbury Geographe Gift committee was set up in 2017 by local business leaders to create an event modelled around the famous Stawell Gift that promotes the region and healthy living through athletics. Over the first two years of the event, it has already grown into a nationally recognised athletics event that sees over 4,000 people attending over the two days. In 2020 further youth initiatives are being implemented. The chance for local youth to run alongside Olympic level athletes is inspiring and powerful. The Gift is a phenomenal and vital tool for the region in promoting healthy living, and we hope to continue a grow the event well into the future. This event could not be possible with out the support of the working party including the Bunbury & Districts Little Athletics Club, Bunbury Runners Club, Bunbury Athletics Club, Athletics WA and community members Tom Dillon and Dylan Panizza. A flashback from last year’s lead up to the Gift. Marathon amputee world record holder, Michael Roeger and the AIS head physiologist, Dr Philo Saunders ran clinics for local school children.

It’s moments like this that can have a profound impact on a young persons life.

Looking forward to having this terrific event back in Bunbury soon.
