First up, a little apology from us for missing our May Women in Tri feature. Life got busy, but we're excited to be back and shining a spotlight on another incredible woman from our triathlon community.
This month, we're proud to introduce Jessica Binks.
Jess is a mum of two, a dedicated athlete, and a seriously inspiring woman. She somehow balances family life, training, and racing while continuing to chase goals that many of us dream about.
Most recently, Jess absolutely smashed the Busselton 100, proving that determination, consistency, and a whole lot of grit can achieve amazing things. Whether she's training before sunrise, juggling the demands of motherhood, or pushing herself on race day, Jess embodies what Women in Tri is all about.
She reminds us that you don't have to choose between being a mum and pursuing big goals... You can do both, and do them brilliantly.
Please join us in celebrating Jess and all that she has achieved. We can't wait to see what challenge she takes on next! 💜🏊♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️
⭐ Name
Jess Binks
⭐How many women's triathlons have you done?
Bunbury 1, Busselton 1 and Perth 2
⭐ What made you sign up for your first-ever event?
I wanted to challenge myself but in a safe and supported way. The mini distance gave me an opportunity to see if I liked triathlons, and I fell in love.
⭐ What is your why?
To prove to myself that I can do difficult things. To set a positive example for my children about an active and healthy lifestyle. They’re fun and I love the grit and exhilaration crossing a finishing line.
⭐Swim, Bike or Run?
Definitely bike, run then swim
⭐What is your favourite part of the Bunbury Women's Triathlon?
The support community. Watching and hearing all these women cheer each other on is such a positive and powerful experience.
⭐What advice would you give to somebody thinking about signing up for their first Women's Triathlon?
Sign up and find your local tri club. Go along to as many training sessions available and have fun. Don’t be afraid you’ll embarrass yourself or you can’t do it, because you can.
