This Queensland Day, we're shining a light on our great state.💡❤️

GCCEC will light up in Queensland colours as part of the statewide Light Up QLD initiative, joining landmarks across the state in celebrating everything that makes Queensland unique.

As one of Queensland's premier event destinations, we're proud to call the Gold Coast home and even prouder to celebrate the state that welcomes millions of visitors, events and unforgettable moments each year.

Happy QLD Day!🌴☀️

Community impact is built through small actions, consistent effort and a team committed to making a difference.

At GCCEC, supporting our community is part of our sustainability approach, with fundraising and donations creating impact beyond our venue.

Throughout 2025, we have:

💚 Raised $20,446 through our 10c bottle recycling initiative
🏆 Raised $19,597 for the CEO Sleepout
🍽️ Donated surplus food through local partnerships

Driven by our people and employee-led Sustainability Team, these efforts turn everyday actions into meaningful community support.

🌱 Grown at GCCEC 🌱

Another plant you'll find lining garden beds across GCCEC is the African iris, also known as the fortnight lily.

One of the many plants helping our outdoor spaces thrive year round, it is scientifically known as Dietes grandiflora, but gets its nickname from a rather interesting blooming cycle. With delicate white and yellow flowers appearing in waves every couple of weeks, this hardy flowering plant can grow up to 60cm in height and spread.

Built for warm climates and coastal conditions, the African iris is both drought resistant and low maintenance, making it a perfect fit for our Gold Coast environment. As a sustainably focussed venue, all plants throughout our gardens are maintained using recycled water to help minimise environmental impact.

Next time you're visiting GCCEC, keep an eye out for these elegant blooms brightening our grounds 👋

We're sleeping out again this year 🛏️

Team GCCEC is raising much needed funds for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to assist Australians experiencing or at risk of homelessness and you can help us make a difference. This event is held every year on one of winter's longest and coldest nights and sees hundreds of CEOs, business owners and community leaders sleep outside to help combat homelessness in our community.

On the 18th of June, General Manager Nick Jeffrey, Risk and Compliance Manager Matthew Barton and Food and Beverage Manager Reinaldo Siqueira will be sleeping outside to help break the cycle of homelessness.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. To support our team, please donate via the link below.

GCCEC ART SERIES! 🎨

Nerang Ballum - People of the Nerang River - by artist Michael Aird, photographs reproduced on clear film mounted on stainless steel, 2004. Since 1990 Michael has worked as an Anthropologist specialising in Aboriginal photographic history. The Nerang River region is important as it is the traditional country of his ancestors and several of his relatives are featured in these photographs. The aerial photographs depict Miami to Hollywell as it was in 1952 and from Hollywell to Coomera River as it was in 1944. These photographs are courtesy of the Queensland Department of natural Resources and Mines.

This beautiful piece of art is one of many indigenous art fixtures around GCCEC. The artwork displayed inside the Centre conveys traditional Indigenous culture portrayed through several different themes and mediums.

Refill, reuse, repeat 💧♻️

You’ll find filtered water refill stations throughout GCCEC, making it easy to top up your reusable bottle while attending events, conferences and exhibitions.

It’s one simple way we’re helping reduce single use plastic bottle waste across the Centre while encouraging more sustainable event experiences for our guests and delegates.

Next time you visit, bring your bottle (or purchase one of our Kombi-themed stainless steel bottles 😉) and refill with us 💙
