IGR Bingham Cup Official page for the biennial IGR Bingham Cup: the world’s preeminent inclusive rugby event.

The Mark Kendall Bingham Memorial Tournament, or Bingham Cup is the biennial world championships for the gay and inclusive rugby community. First held in 2002, the tournament was created in memory of 9/11 hero Mark Bingham, who lost his life fighting back against terrorists on board United flight 93, which crashed into the ground near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nine cities have hosted the tournament so far:

Before the first whistle blew, we were honoured to be welcomed at a Civic Reception hosted by the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner 🙌

It was a celebration of everything the Bingham Cup stands for, inclusion, community and the power of rugby to bring people together. Every club, along with our incredible officials and volunteers, was represented as we kicked off the tournament in true Brisbane style.

Before the first whistle blew, we were honoured to be welcomed at a Civic Reception hosted by the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner 🙌

History has been made once again at Bingham Cup 2026! 🌈🏉

Congratulations to the Kings Cross Steelers RFC, who were crowned Bingham Cup champions for the second time in tournament history 3 weeks ago, defeating the Sydney Convicts in an incredible final! 🔥

From the first whistle to the final play, it was a showcase of skill, determination, courage and everything that makes rugby and the Bingham Cup so special.

Age is just a number… and the Legends proved it at Bingham Cup 2026! 💪🌈
Players aged 35 and over men and women, took to the field to show that experience, passion and a love of rugby never go away.

There were big hits, brilliant tries, huge tackles, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, a whole lot of rugby played with heart. ❤️🏉

From seasoned veterans to players proving they can still turn back the clock, the Legends Match was a fantastic celebration of everything that makes our community so special.

Because you don’t stop playing rugby because you get older… you get better at telling everyone how good you used to be! 😂

🏉🏳️‍⚧️ THE TRANS MATCH — RUGBY FOR EVERYONE 🏳️‍⚧️🏉

At Bingham Cup 2026, the Trans Match was about more than rugby. It was about belonging, visibility and standing together.

At a time when trans and gender-diverse players are increasingly being targeted and, in many places, prevented from taking part in regular rugby, these players stepped onto the field and showed exactly why everyone deserves the opportunity to play the sport they love.

There was skill. There was passion. There were tackles, tries, celebrations and plenty of smiles. But above all, there was community. 💪🏉

The message was clear:

You belong here.
You are welcome here.
You can play here.

Bingham Cup has always been about breaking down barriers and creating a space where people can be themselves — and the Trans Match was a powerful reminder that rugby is at its best when everyone has a place on the field. 🌈

👏 To every player who took part, thank you for being visible, being proud and showing the world what inclusive rugby looks like.

🏆🔥 BRISTOL BISONS ARE HOAGLAND CUP CHAMPIONS! 🏉

What. A. Game. 🤯

The Bristol Bisons and Chicago Dragons left absolutely everything on the field in an incredible Hoagland Cup final at Bingham 2026 just over two weeks ago.

With neither side willing to give an inch, the match went beyond regulation time and into extra time and still, there was nothing to separate these two outstanding teams.

Then came GOLDEN SCORE. ⚡

One moment. One score. One champion.

And it was the Bristol Bisons who held their nerve to claim the HOAGLAND CUP! 🏆

Huge congratulations to the Bisons, and enormous respect to the Chicago Dragons for an unforgettable contest. This is exactly what Bingham Cup rugby is all about, competition, courage, community and leaving it all on the pitch.

It’s been just over two weeks since the Adelaide University Sharks Rugby Union Football and Tsurumi Brats Rugby Club joined forces to become the Brat Sharks!

It has been nearly two weeks since the Ottawa Wolves RFC won the Amanda Mark Cup for the second time, defeating the Emerald Warriors in a spectacular final here in Brisbane! 🐺🏉

What a tournament. What a final. What a showcase of everything inclusive rugby stands for.

This victory is a testament to the dedication, skill, and heart of the Ottawa Wolves but this moment belongs to every single club that took the pitch. The Amanda Mark Cup is only possible because of the incredible contribution of all the teams who travelled from across the globe to compete, connect, and celebrate.
