Dear BTU Family,
This is an incredibly difficult message to share, but unfortunately BTU will not go ahead this year.
BTU2025 had already been scaled back as our Race Director stepped away to focus on some underlying health concerns. Those concerns have now been confirmed as breast cancer, and she is currently undergoing targeted treatment, as well as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and will also require surgery in the months ahead.
Your Race Director is incredibly strong and is already responding positively to treatment, but right now her focus is on healing, recovery, and taking each day as it comes.
As many of you know, BTU has always been more than just a race. It has been a community, a family, and a place where lifelong memories and friendships were created on the trails. This news is heartbreaking for everyone connected to the event.
At this stage, the future of this iconic race remains uncertain.
One message she does want to share is this: if you find a lump in your breast, do not ignore it and do not be afraid to push for answers. If you ask whether you need a scan, donβt take no for an answer. Early detection matters.
The support from her community has already been overwhelming, and she is deeply grateful for every message, thought, and act of kindness. She will respond to everyone in due course as she is able.
Thank you all for the support, kindness, and passion you have shown BTU over the years. That spirit has always been the heart of this event and always will be.
