The 2025 Indigenous Nationals will be hosted by the University of Western Australia (23-27 June) on Noongar Boodjar Country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from universities across Australia are invited to take part in the 2026 Indigenous Nationals presented by bp Australia.

Celebrating 30 years of culture, connection and competition, the event returns to where it all began at The Wollotuka Institute on Awabakal & Worimi Country.

Across five unforgettable days, students will come together to compete in Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, and Touch Football but Indigenous Nationals is more than a sporting event. It's an opportunity to connect, celebrate culture and build lifelong friendships through sport.

From lecture halls to communities, the impact of the bp Australia Indigenous Nationals Scholarship goes far beyond the field.

Over the past eight years, recipients like Quincy Ross (UON), Rebeka Morrison (UWA), Jackson Eckford (UON), Taleah Ugle (UWA) and Lachlan Munn (UQ) have used the scholarship to pursue careers in education, research, construction and medicine, while continuing to give back to their communities.

With $5,000 in funding, mentoring, and career pathways, the bp Australia scholarship is helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student-athletes thrive in sport, study, and beyond.

In 2026, two more student-athletes will be awarded the scholarship at the 30th anniversary of Indigenous Nationals, hosted by The Wollotuka Institute and the The University of Newcastle, Australia from 29 June – 03 July.

Applications for the Indigenous Nationals bp Australia Scholarships are now open.

For the eighth consecutive year, bp Australia will award two $5,000 scholarships to the most promising Indigenous student-athletes, helping them pursue their goals both on the field and in the classroom.

Recipients will also receive mentoring and professional development opportunities through bp Australia’s ongoing partnership with UniSport Australia.
