The Royal Queensland Show, or the Ekka as it is fondly known, holds a special place in Queensland's cultural heritage and in the hearts of all Queenslanders. The Ekka continues to be Queensland's biggest and most loved annual event and still achieves its aim of connecting Queenslanders of all ages, from the country to the city and from all walks of life. Every year it represents an opportunity for our members to gather socially, harness business opportunities, exchange ideas and innovations and showcase our state's agricultural, and industrial products and initiatives to the people of Queensland and national and international visitors. We encourage you to have fun, interact and to contribute to conversations by leaving comments, suggestions, photos, videos, and links. However we will remove any content that:

• breaks any laws
• is defamatory, offensive, obscene, profane, vulgar or depicts violence
• is derogatory or misleading
• is pornographic or sexually inappropriate
• is violent, abusive, threatening or harassing
• is unreasonably commercial
• is hateful in language targeting race/ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality or political beliefs
• is trolling or deliberately disruptive of discussion

🧀 Johnny Jamboree from Tullawong State High School for their camembert titled 'Grubby Tubby'

A historic moment in our special 150th year of Ekka.

Today, we officially marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter, alongside Hutchinson Builders, with work underway on the $287.5 million major revitalisation of the Showgrounds, as part of the Queensland Government’s $3.5 billion investment in athlete villages for the 2032 Games and beyond.

The project includes a new Machinery Hill grandstand for the Main Arena with significantly improved accessibility, restoration of the heritage-listed John MacDonald and Ernest Baynes grandstands, a new Horse Pavilion and more - ensuring the Ekka can continue at its historic home for generations to come.

The Ekka has been held at the Brisbane Showgrounds since the very first show in 1876, and these legacy-setting major upgrades will help secure that proud tradition for another 150 years.
