on, Lions Clubs aim:
• to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people,
• to promote the principles of good government and good citizenship, and
• to meet the humanitarian needs of those less fortunate than us. The Moorooka Lions Club has been serving the local community for over 47 years. The club is still very active, raising funds for charitable causes and disaster relief, providing assistance to people in need, and creating opportunities for today’s youth to develop the skills they need to be tomorrow’s civic leaders. Moorooka Lions:
• Organise community events such as the Moorooka Community Festival,
• Raise funds through Lions Christmas Cakes and Lions Mints, raffles, parking cars at sporting events, and barbecues and sausage sizzles,
• Encourage students to enter the Lions Youth of the Year Quest,
• Clean up our community with events like Clean Up Australia,
• Participate in the Brisbane City Council Home Help scheme,
• Support community functions though equipment loan and volunteers. Monies raised by the Club are invested back into the community, often directly to people in need, and sometimes through other community organisations, through medical research projects at the Princess Alexandra and Mater Hospitals, and through support for other Lions projects. Last year, Moorooka Lions donated more than $20000 to a wide range of causes. Dinner Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday each Month. Service projects and fund-raising activities happen at various times according to need and members’ availability. We welcome enquiries about our Club’s activities and projects.
