There are moments in sport that remind us just how unpredictable life can be. While rugby league creates unforgettable memories and lifelong opportunities, it can also present challenges that no one sees coming.
Today, our Bowen Seagulls family is thinking of one of our own, Corey Jensen, following the announcement of his retirement from the NRL on medical grounds.
This isn't the ending anyone imagined for a career that began right here on our fields, but what an incredible journey it has been. From pulling on a Seagulls jersey as a young boy to proudly representing the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos to WINNING a Premiership, Corey has inspired an entire community every step of the way.
What makes Corey so special isn't just what he achieved on the field—it's the person he is. No matter where his career has taken him, Corey has never forgotten where it all began and what real dedication and team work looks like. He and his family are a familiar part of our Seagulls community, and their continued support of our club means so much to everyone involved.
Corey, thank you for inspiring the next generation, for representing Bowen with humility and pride, and for showing every young Seagull that dreams really can become reality.
While your playing career has come to an earlier close than anyone hoped, your legacy is far from over. We know this next chapter will be just as meaningful, and we look forward to celebrating you at the 2026 Corey Jensen Gala on 3 October, alongside the community that has proudly supported you from the very beginning.
