It is that time again! We are looking for shows to perform in 2027, submit on our website.

We love working on shows of various genres and pride ourselves on high quality productions. This was reflected at the 2026 Finley Awards where MTC shows were awarded Best One Act and Best Play, among other awards. We also came away with Best Front of House, so arguably have the best theatre bar in town.

We would love to hear from you. melvilletheatrecompany.au/submissions

🔎Announcing the cast of Season Three🔍

Step into the brilliant and complex mind of Alan Turing in Breaking the Code by Hugh Whitemore — a powerful and poignant drama that weaves together the genius of wartime code breaking with the personal cost of living a life ahead of its time. This compelling production explores the life of the man who cracked the Enigma machine and laid the foundations of modern computing, while also confronting the persecution he faced for being true to himself. A story of intellect, identity, and integrity, Breaking the Code is as timely now as ever. Don’t miss this moving tribute to one of the 20th century’s most extraordinary figures.

"Powerful, riveting drama." - N.Y. Daily News.
"Elegant and poignant." - Time Magazine.
"The most important serious play of the season." - Christian Science Monitor.
Warning: Adult themes. Su***de mentioned.

🎺 The pit has closed and the band’s last note has faded away… but the memory of Grimley will never be forgotten.

We could not have imagined this production into reality without The Challenge Brass Band and the incredible collaboration that happened between our two companies. It was a true passion project and we were so fortunate to have you on board for the ride!

Thanks must go to our Front of House volunteers for running the shows so seamlessly and our members and families for the support in making it happen.

We hope everyone who managed to get a ticket enjoyed the show as much as we did. Ta-rah till next time! ❤️🎺

Reviewed by Paul TreasureProducing plays that are based on films comes with its own list of challenges, not least of which is that films are by their very nature cinematic! They have a lot of short scenes set in a large number of very different locations, which can be very difficult to even attempt....
