The best weekends to be in regional Queensland are those at the beginning of spring, especially when you find a charming town like Blackbutt. The sun rising and falling paints the sky with luminous colours; and still in mornings' first exhale, Winter has just enough chill to make your morning coffee be all the better to hug the mug. It’s worth the scenic drive a few times over, and, if you have th

e time, honour it with a long stay at the Blackbutt Showgrounds. Be welcomed up the Blackbutt range, just past a large Avocado Orchard by the fresh air and sounds of the bellbirds and the town in festive mode for AvoFest on the second Saturday in September.

Thinking back to last September, there’s one sound that really sticks—the 𝑩𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒕 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑷𝒊𝒑𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒔 marching through the rail trail area! Whether you were watching from the sidewalk or catching their performance near the Memorial Hall, their presence turned the Rail Trail Parade into a true celebration of community spirit.

𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔:
𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒈 𝑾𝒊𝒏: Who could forget the absolute legend who downed an avocado in next to no time at the Avo Eating Comp?
𝑨𝒗𝒐-𝑴𝒂𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔: From the wacky wheelbarrow races and juggling to the "avo-games" had everyone cheering.
𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝑭𝒖𝒏: We loved seeing the Blackbutt Car Enthusiasts Club vehicles in the parade and the woodchopping competitions drawing those massive crowds at the showgrounds.

We’re already getting the pipes tuned and the drums ready to do it all again on Saturday, 12 September 2026. It’s the same great atmosphere, the same family-friendly fun, and of course plenty of the best avocados in the South Burnett.

From handmade crafts to the most delicious avocado-inspired treats, our vendors are the heartbeat of the festival.

𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – sharing her passion for sewing and creating, with loads of goodies on hand.
𝐏𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 – for that liquid gold shot in a cup.

The showground bar hosted a spectacular live music line up and one of the crowd fav's was the amazing:

"Rockin’ Our Abilities"
This was such a great performance by these talented men and women. The showgrounds bar was rocking!

Rockin Our Abilities was formed back in 2021, out of a need for a safe place with social involvement and activities for the with disabilities.
All of the participants thrive in the setting, let’s face it, music is the thread that binds us all.
