An Epic Whale of a Tail on the NSW South Coast! 🐋✨
Last week Brian Dance paddling his Epic V10 Sport about 1.5km off shore into his local bay had a sense, with camera out he witnessed a couple of massive breaches ahead in the distance, breathtaking breaches then the ocean went quiet.
Then came the real magic.
Driven by pure curiosity, this gentle giant swam straight over to say hello, hovering right alongside the ski to check things out. Moments like these remind us exactly why we chase the paddle on the open water.
There is truly nothing quite like the feeling of being completely connected to nature—and having the stability of the V10 Sport gave Brian the confidence to handle whatever the ocean threw his way to a front-row seat to the ultimate wildlife show. 🌊 🙌

Well done to the participants & organisers of the 2026 Albany Surf Craft Challenge.

Held by the Albany Surf Life Saving Club, the event looks like awesome good fun, and in the words of one participant, the after party is pretty good too with everyone 'locked in'.

Congrats to the single male winner, Nick Walker, on his Epic v12 and to Amelie & Travis England - winners of the mixed doubles in their Epic v8 double.

One of the things that inspired me most getting into paddling was the Molokai - a legendary race and life experience. The videos and images you usually see don't do the event justice, it's literally too special for words.

Just a special shout out to two Aussies who are both legends of the sport - Clint Robinson and Cory Hill. Congrats to Cory on another win and record time - truly awesome and well deserved.

As for Clint - I was fortunate enough to catch up with him briefly in Mooloolaba leading into the event and, whilst he always looks fit, what a fantastic result!! He sent me a few snaps this morning and so I thought I would share.

For Clint to still be competing at that level after 30 plus years at the highest of highest levels, it's truly amazing and inspiring. That Epic v12 looked great out there too (shameless plug).....

Well done and congratulations to Clint, Cory and indeed all the paddlers & organisers who made up this year's chapter of this iconic event.

Besides transport (see below post), we get asked from time to time about off-water storage of craft in Sydney. Don't worry, our core focus is still Epic products (skis, kayaks, paddles and accessories) :) but we have a solution......

Epic Kayaks Australia provides a storage service in Sydney. If you need short, medium or long term 'off water storage', we can securely store your craft until you need it. Maybe you are don't need your ski over winter, undergoing housing renovations, whatever - we can take the headache away until you need your ski again.

Based on a monthly charge, get in touch if you need some storage for your craft.

Please note: this is not a 'on demand' storage service. Storage will be provided at our alarmed and insured warehouse but craft won't be made available for 'occasional' paddles, unfortunately!

We have also launched a new online transport booking service! Open to all brands and all craft - as long as it fits our trailer. Contact Epic prior to making a booking if you are unsure of your requirements, our website or terms and conditions!

We have no dramas working with any qualified transporters (in fact we do all the time and love what they do for us!) so we are literally trialling this as an extension of our current transport runs in order to help paddlers around Australia, keep our industry healthy, make sure our treasured craft reach their destination safely, see our beautiful country, paddle with awesome people and to pay a few diesel bills along the way :)

Thanks to everyone who has visited the Epic Sydney warehouse and supported our warehouse sale over the last week or two.

Stock of some models is getting a bit thin but, there are still deals to be had so we are extending the sale until the 15th May. Get in touch today if you want to pick up a great Epic deal and get paddling over winter......
