Event. The Bendigo Record Fair brings vinyl dealers from near and far, and provides hundreds of crates of records to have a dig through at each event. Both events were originally a single event, the Bendigo Record Comic and Toy Fair, active since 2014. The 2 events split into separate events more recently, with Bendicon growing rapidly into a larger pop culture expo, and the Bendigo Record Fair specializing in a music and record related fair. Bendicon is host to the popular Bendigo Cosplay Contest, a fundraiser for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation. Also featured is the ever-growing Artists Alley, where Australian artists near and far, famous and becoming famous, showcase their talents. Bendicon also hosts a fanzone for lovers of pop culture movies, tv shows and more, such as Doctor Who, Star Wars, Firefly, Star Trek, Terry Pratchett fans, Swordcraft and more. The heart of Bendicon is the Market, bringing traders from all over the country selling comics, toys, pop vinyl, geek fashion, and more. The Stage now runs all day, with presentations and debates, as well as the Cosplay Contest. The Bendicon Workshops have been very popular with aspiring artists, but be advised, bookings are essential. Bendicon usually occurs in September each year, when not affected by Covid cancellations (I'm looking at you, 2020!), so Stay Tuned! The next Bendigo Record Fair is on April 18, 2021, and already has a full house of 27 over-size tables filled with records, cds, music books and the likes, but mainly records.
