We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! Join us from the morning’s first tunes right through to the evening celebrations. Friday begins in Bellingen with a breakfast jam led by Laura Targett and a conversation with Gumbaynggirr Elders. The afternoon brings Middle Eastern percussion, Alessandro Santacaterina meeting Diego Jascalevich, Brazilian music with Wombatuque and improvised theatre with Impro Lab, before we gather in Coffs Harbour for the Gala.

Come and see Santa Taranta Orchestra live tomorrow at the Gala, celebrating the launch of their new album, Terra, alongside Hyperbaroq and Diego Jascalevich. Here’s a taste of “Pizzica a ’sta terra” by Santa Taranta feat. Allara:

The song takes inspiration from tarantism, an ancient ritual that celebrates the power of music and dance as a cure for the poison of a mythical tarantula spider. Our piece was written with the same spirit; today more than ever we need to sing and dance to heal ourselves and our mother Earth.

Join us for an Italian frame drum percussion workshop on Sunday, included in your festival or day pass!

This replaces the Latin American Percussion workshop at Bellingen Memorial Hall Studio on Sunday at 1.30pm.

You can also explore Latin American rhythms at Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium on Saturday, 9am–2pm. A separate booking is required for this workshop.

Bellingen Youth Orchestra Sinfonia joins Diego Jascalevich, Alessandro Santacaterina, Farhan Shah and Sufi Oz for an incredible collaboration at Taranta Festival. Seriously not to be missed!

Sinfonia is the orchestra’s most advanced ensemble, bringing together its leading string players to explore challenging repertoire and new musical experiences.

On Sunday, they’ll share the stage with visiting artists whose distinct sounds and traditions will make this a memorable meeting of local talent and international musicianship.

Come and hear the stories at LOOM, where community members share true, personal narratives on stage. It's honestly so powerful hearing someone speak openly about their life and recognising a little of yourself in their words. A reminder of how much we share, and how good it feels to belong.

After a 12-week development process, storytellers share their short spoken stories without notes or scripts. Each story is shaped through trust, deep listening and care.

A collaborative project by Hayley Egan, with Olivia Bernardini, Anna Dowd and Persia Wildwood as story producers.

Contains sexual themes and strong language; consider suitability for under-15s. Arrive promptly for seating, as doors close 5–10 minutes after the start.

Join us at Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium for an Introduction to Latin American Rhythms workshop! The Bellingen workshop has been cancelled, so this is the only opportunity to attend. Tickets are available on Humanitix.

This workshop invites participants to explore different genres of Latin American folk music through understanding their foundational rhythmic patterns and applying them to traditional tunes.

Under the premise of “learning by playing”, this workshop will centre on three particular rhythms: chacarera (Argentina), festejo (Peru) and cumbia (Colombia).

The workshop will be taught primarily on percussion instruments, but other instruments are welcome too. There will be an opportunity to perform the tunes in the Sunday morning parade at the 2026 Bellingen Taranta Festival! (optional).

Who is it for: People with and without previous experience. Groups and parts will be distributed according to the skill level of each participant.

When: Saturday 31 October, 9am–2pm

Where: Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium

Cost: $70

What to bring: Your instrument, if you have one. Preferably (but not exclusively) cajon, congas, bongo, timbal, djembe or another instrument from the family, or small percussion like shakers, maracas and cowbells. There will be a range of instruments available for people who don’t have one. For those interested in participating with other instruments (strings, guitar, piano, vocals), please reach out to us for availability. Written material will be available too.
