Bringing the kids to Taranta? Good, they're FREE with a paying adult.

We don’t want families to miss out, and we know from experience that if you’ve made a few humans, things can get expensive and it can feel easier to stay home.

Kids are welcome, Taranta is a celebration of what life IS, and what makes it wonderful.

This is part of why Taranta is alcohol-free. The festival is built so families can actually be part of the whole thing.

30 October – 1 November, Bellingen.

Hi beautiful people WE NEED MORE HOSTS for our wonderful artists coming from overseas and interstate! This year We have more than 30 artists coming to our beautiful town!
As you know the festival is run by volunteers through Taranta Arts, a local artist-led charitable organisation dedicated to bringing vibrant music, dance and cultural experiences to our community.
This might be:
🛌A spare room in your home
🛌A self-contained studio or granny flat
🛌A room at a local accommodation business
🛌A whole house that will be empty over the festival weekend
Every room helps us bring brilliant artists from near and far to Bellingen.
Hosts receive a double pass for the weekend (or more)!
Interested? Know someone who might be? Please message the festival and Tali, our Artist Liaison will give you more info! Thanks!!!

What makes you who you are? Is it your culture? Your work? What is it about you that you need people to see, that you want to share?
We are all marinating on the theme of identity… can’t wait to reflect on it as a community at the festival.

Bellingen, we know how much you love a harmonium… Get ready for something super special, and it’s not what you’re thinking!

Hyperbaroq brings together Ilaria Crociani, Stephen Magnusson and Mirko Guerrini. These are some of the biggest names in Australian jazz, and here they’re doing something completely different, taking centuries old medieval and baroque music and reworking it with electric guitar, harmonium, electronics and full on improvisation.

Part of this year’s lineup exploring Identity, in every direction the theme can take you.

Hey Bellingen,
You should get a ticket to Taranta Festival if you possibly can!

This is a community-run festival, countless volunteer hours are poured into it… we are so passionate about providing a platform for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse artists and about giving YOU the opportunity to see world-class musicians without having to leave home.

We put on lots of little tasters for free around town so that everyone gets to experience the buzz, no matter what their situation is. Kids enter free with an adult so that it’s not a huge burden for families to come.

Ticket prices stay low because we work super hard to keep them that way! Come and be part of it!

Ars Nova Napoli are joining us this year from Naples, and if you’ve never heard Neapolitan folk you are really in for a treat... It’s so fast and infectious, and it will transport you to a Southern Italian summer at just the very low cost of a festival ticket!

Ars Nova Napoli are supported by the Italian Institute of Culture Sydney, Ministero Affari Esteri and Napoli Musa, as well as the rest of our wonderful festival sponsors. They’re part of this year’s international lineup, alongside artists from Argentina and Greece, all reflecting on and interpreting this year’s theme, Identity.

Seriously, get your tickets!

Bellingen Playback Theatre is unscripted. The stories come straight from whoever’s in the room that day, and the performers, (community members who we interact with all the time in town!), build the performance right there, on the spot. It’s surprising, energetic, reflective, and soul nourishing, and the Sunday afternoon show is becoming a Taranta tradition, where we pour into the hall after a busy weekend, happy and exhausted, and reflect on the theme, as well as what it means to live together in this beautiful place.

You’re used to seeing Memo on stage at the Mem Hall. He’s a virtuosic musician who gives so much back to this community, through his teaching, his support for emerging musicians, and social justice work like curating the charity album Songs for Palestine.

But have you ever thought about the Memo-shaped hole he left behind in his hometown of Santa Fe, Argentina?

This year, we’re bringing a little of Santa Fe to Bellingen!

Argentinian band Ginkgobiloba are joining this year’s lineup, and they’ll be on stage with Memo. They’ve been playing together for 20 years and it shows in every note.

We are really blessed to be able to hear a group like this, inspired by Argentine folklore, played with a feel that only comes from decades in the tradition together.

They are amazing, and we could not be more excited to have them in Bellingen!
