Barnes Bay Regatta

The Barnes Bay Regatta @ DSS was a great night. I am just happy that we were able to salvage something out of a bad weather situation. We had a nice BBQ and then the crazies tore up the dance floor.

Attendees also enjoyed a dance floor boat race, quizzes, musical chairs and random prize draws.

REGATTA ANNOUNCENT:
Racing Cancelled, Function relocated to DSS. BBQ still proceeding.

Hi All,
Due to the current strong wind warning the Regatta has been cancelled. After consulting our experts, we have made the decision to not procced at Barnes Bay.

The forecast is showing strong winds, however these are "Average" winds, gusts will be well in excess of these. It is a distinct possibility that the upper channel will see gusts in excess of 30 knots, possibly 35-40.
We do not need to be running what is predominantly a social event in these condition. I have concerns for boat damage, mark boats, people in tenders, and anchoring conditions in Quarantine Bay.

The post event function has been relocated to the Derwent Sailing Squadron. BBQ and Music will be provided from there and we are cooking up a few special surprises for the night.

Function tickets are still required, and all race entry fees will be put on a bar tab between 5:30-6:30pm for your enjoyment.

The club will be open from noon for pre-drinks
Prizes awarded for race entrants - draws and competitions

ASSISTANCE NEEDED

Hi All, we are looking for an assistant on the Barnes Bay committee boat for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon. Perfect for a non sailor looking to help out. Will be required from 1pm until finish of race.

Less than a week until the 150th Anniversary Barnes Bay Regatta.

Entries are still open for those racing.

For those people cruising down, please pre purchases your function tickets, you get a feed and music for $20. Tickets will be availabke on the night, but pre-purchase does make life easier to manage catering numbers.

The Skite plates look amazing, see the attached photo. This is a great memento of the 150th Regatta.

In previous year's I have counted 83 boats in Quarantine Bay - lets try and beat it !!!
