The Citizens Science Crew at Daangean work on a wide range of conservation projects centred around the Devilbend Natural Features Reserve (Daangean). We focus on engaging, practical projects to protect and preserve this special environment. Our projects offer people of all ages a fun way to get involved in local volunteering and really make a hands on - practical difference.
Some of our Projects Include:

Daangean Turtle Project
Murnong / Grassland Project
School Ambassador Program
Shoreline Habitat Restoration
Population Surveys of the endangered Southern Toadlet, our 160-strong kangaroo group, koala’s, the endangered Australasian Bittern, Latham’s Snipe, and many other species.

Sammy’s cultural awareness training is designed to create knowledge and unity in an inclusive manner. Sammy uses her 30years experience in the education system to professionally engage and inspire people in a friendly and safe space.

Canisha is a Melbourne-based artist whose soulful, textured pop sound blends warmth, honesty and emotional depth.
Known for her inviting vocals and raw storytelling, Canisha has performed at Dreamtime at the G,Yirramboi Festival, St Kilda Music Festival, Share the Spirit at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and Treaty Day Out. Her debut EP Don’t Be Scared (2024, Bad Apples Music) introduced a confident and lush pop sound, drawing inspiration from Adele, Jorja Smith and Harry Styles. Guided by mentors such as Candice Lorrae, Bumpy, Tasman Keith and Beatrice Lewis, Canisha continues to craft music that connects, uplifts and resonates.

Tiriki Onus is a Yorta Yorta and Dja Dja Wurrung artist, filmmaker and academic. He is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) at the University of Melbourne, where he also leads the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development and co-directs the Research Unit for Indigenous Arts and Cultures in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. Through his work as an artist and educator, Tiriki supports the growth, recognition and inclusion of Indigenous arts, cultural practices and artists within the University and the broader community.
