The Lake Wendouree Master Plan was released in November 2017. This is what is states:
_______________________________________________________________________
Lake Wendouree Lighting Project
Support and implement with the following
recommendations:
β€’ Lighting be pole mounted, low energy consumption and spaced at regular intervals to provide a consistent level of energy efficient lighting to standards that address public safety.

β€’ Lighting be low spill with controlled hours of operation to minimise the impact on birdlife and wildlife and discourage anti-social behavior.

β€’ Lighting options consider the best outcomes in terms of visual and environmental impacts, and costs to install and maintain.

β€’ Lighting of the Steve Moneghetti Track be considered a priority project within the Master Plan given its overwhelming community support.

The purpose of this FB Group was to engage the community, local stakeholders, support from government and secure funding to deliver lights around Lake Wendouree.

We achieved this successfully.

Clearly the whole project has now been stumped by Heritage Victoria Interim Protection Order.

Both the City of Ballarat staff and Councillors need to be accountable for the non delivery of this project and the mess we now find ourselves in with this IPO!

Once again a few minority rule the world ~ So So Frustrated that personal agendas and politics get in the way of progress for our City. How many reviews? How many meetings? How many consultants? does it take to get a FULLY Funded Project up an running? The community voiced what they wanted ~ Lights Around Lake Wendouree.
Now we face the loss of funding and a heritage ban that could potentially impact ALL Activities we enjoy around the lake!!
Is this a failure of Council Staff and/or Councillors not working through the best solution that meets the community requirements?
