✨ Important Announcement – Get Your Sparkle On ✨

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news that Get Your Sparkle On has been cancelled.

This decision was not made lightly. This event is incredibly close to my heart, and it meant so much to me to create something that helped shine a light on women’s self-health advocacy, empowerment, and awareness. Getting these important conversations into our community has always been my why.
Due to recent health developments, I now need to focus on my family and my own wellbeing. As difficult as this decision has been, it is the right one for me at this time.

Thank you so much to everyone who supported, encouraged, followed, and believed in this event. Your kindness and understanding mean more than I can put into words.

I would like to openly thank the sponsors who believed in the event:

Community Bank Bacchus Marsh
BFT Bacchus Marsh

Bacchus Marsh Pilates
First National Rayner Real Estate - Bacchus Marsh and Ballan
Back In Motion Bacchus Marsh
Austage Events
Bacchus Marsh Golf Clubhouse

The speakers who were attending:

Luan Lawrenson-Woods

This above "note" is a bit melodramatic, but right NOW that is how Im feeling. I have quite a bit of s*** going on and honestly I want to press rewind because 6 months ago life felt alot...slower!!

I dont know if I have something or one thing to blame right now but the way I feel right now, the emotions the over-whelming urge to scream, the panic, the fact that I cant think about what is going on tomorrow its consuming and im constantly...tired 🙄

This is not a post that is to bring everyone reading it down - and to some it will be slightly cryptic...all in all Im probably fine, well that's the way im TRYING to look at it

taken from

Ive decided to share the above exhert from a story shared on Menopause Mandate which outlines what I have heard more than once from friends, family members, co-workers. The fact that Ive heard it MORE than once is the troubling part. The same topic keeps coming up, and this is why I am working towards building an event focussed on Women's Health, Self-Advocacy and learning a little about Peri-Menopause and Menopause and continuing the importance that Knowledge Is Power!!!!

I can't bad-mouth the professionals, because its not all on them. Menopause (peri/meno/post) knowledge is still in its infancy and unless professionals want to open their minds to more knowledge and understanding, im sorry to say - it is UP TO US!!!

We know when something isnt right in our mind, body and whole self. We just have to be strong and understand what it means to self-advocate. Our health, women's health really does matter. Know that. You are important and just because one person tells you an answer, it may not be correct.
If your attending a medical appointment you need to be prepared. Ask your healthcare professional questions. Question the questions and answers given in your appointment. HOW? WHY? WHAT? After you do question, you still may have the feeling that the answer you were seeking, wasn't the right one.

GET YOUR SPARKLE ON will be have 2 guest speakers. Very soon I will be highlighting them and their specific focus.
These ladies have built their knowledge from lived experiences. Furthered their knowledge so they can assist you.

I hope that this event will help you, help in more ways than one. A Ladies Night Out IS helping you just by "getting out". A night to share in laughter and fun, sillies and shenanigans - with your "group"...and what if I can assist and bring knowledge to the room that's an added bonus.

R❤️

Slap in the Face OR Wake up Call!!!
Let me know what you think!

I've been debating whether I say something about this, but its bothering me - so here goes...

Sunday, I decided a "ME DAY". I decided to go shopping. I wanted to start looking for THE dress for Get Your Sparkle On. The day started with a mini catchup with my brother, sis-in law etc then I headed to Highpoint.
As school hols is drawing to and end we don't get alot of "me" time...so I was looking forward to this day.
There isnt alot to choose from in terms of "event" clothing - i LOVE a signature piece...I paced up and down the levels at Highpoint, no real idea where I was headed. I visited Cue, Forever New and City Chic.
Just browsing....

Then I saw a shop known for Event Wear. (Store will remain unamed) I saw a dress, and it was gorgeous. I was actually nervous to try it on. The sales girl saw me eyeing it off. I asked 'do you carry an 18?' She said 'I think your a 16'. (Pretty chuffed at that one). She sent me to the change rooms and told me she'd bring one in.
A few moments later, id changed and honestly I loved this dress. A bit $$ for a possible 1 off event attire. But i was just trying it on...I asked the girl to take some pics.
IMAGINE: Long, sparkly, off one shoulder.

THEN THE SALES GIRL SAID...
"I also bought 3 dresses more suited to your age" 😲
I said "Thankyou" looked at the dresses. All black, nothing special or stand-up. I didnt try them on, changed and walked out.

How old did this girl THINK I was? Im 46. Really, is that what Im worried about or is it something more. Ever since Ive hit menopause Ive had the feeling of getting older, and have become a bit more worried about how I look or what I look like. My body aches, im emotional, im sweaty and I forget things, alot. Do I hope this passes...hell yes! But at the same time...im still me.

All of this is already in my face...menopause is invisible and does need to be talked about but not explaining to all. Can people now sense im older, or should I stop overthinking it...

Walking out of that shop, I felt I lost a little bit of my Sparkle 💔

I am now...the other side of 45!!!Feeling better today in every way!!!Life throws us obstacles...I've had my fair share....

I am now...the other side of 45!!!
Feeling better today in every way!!!

Life throws us obstacles...I've had my fair share...
We learn, and we grow. We love and we hate, we hurt and we thrive..
It is...Life!!!

As I put it yesterday, I assess and re-assess!
I have seen specialists to better equip me in my journey through the BigM with these I have pulled more knowledge. They say there is an amount of time that the body "suffers" through menopause...nope dont agree with that, because if I did then there would be an age that Perimenopause begins...and THERE ISN'T (ill elaborate on this at another time)...so with all this knowledge building I am setting my own path.

I never have been one for New Year resolutions. I started taking charge of my health (weight focus) earlier this year (that's progressing) but I've felt BigM reaching further into the body. Aches, pain in my bones, brain fog.
So, Tuesday this week I began my fitness plan.
I had always been self-conscious about gyms. The mirrors the already-fit perfect bodies. The determination of set minds. The gym I chose is one that supported the Get Your PINK On Fundraiser this year BFT Bacchus Marsh . I was worried about group training and felt worried I wouldn't be able to keep up! I was so wrong. I had so much fun (never thought I'd incorporate fun & fitness in the same sentence. 45 minutes went so fast and the vibe was addictive.
It is now MY MIND that is determined, I didnt feel conscious about my body. My body needs strengthening and this is my goal. Im doing this for me.
Even though my bloody cold got in the way of continuing this week, i will be planting my feet firmly to build a healthier, stronger me - mind & body!

Let the excitement begin...
I thought it about time to properly introduce, and start building excitement over on the up-coming event (said above) over at .gyspo .
THAT'S right fans and followers of GET YOUR PINK ON. With this already popular event, I decided to build on my journey of a high-risk cancer 'person'.
Me, well while I have openly shared my menopausal meltown I want to get the party started on talking about Perimenopause and Menopause and the importance of Self-Advocating for your own health...woman's health.

I have grown with knowledge over the past 3 years about what it means on a personal level to be high-risk and carrying the BRCA2 gene. I share what I believe is important and on the day of GYPO, I let the experts share in their research, and also the support surrounding inherited cancers in the community of .

To continue on from this, I am going forth with my personal journey. One that is seeing my life ride a roller-coaster filled with bumps, dips and spills. My ride is different from many, skipping perimenopause and diving straight into menopause.
This is a ride based on a personal journey, but if I can help others and work towards helping those in our community find a place of comfort, a common ground to just say "WOW, I'm not the only one" OR "I'm not going crazy" then this next chapter wont be a fail!!!

GET YOUR SPARKLE ON is a Ladies Night Out. A night where women get to enjoy their own. More will be shared, but jump on over to the Get Your Sparkle On page...the life shared over there wont be doom and gloom, but its a space for you to nod your head, have a tear, laugh and relate, and open your mind a little ❤️

As I return to socials, I thought id throw something into the mix that you dont usually see...(of me)

This morning (see STORY) shows me, in tears. I didnt want to post 'that' pic on here because it doesn't reflect the whole, what do we call it?...oh hell let's just say what it is - the crazy roller-coaster ride of menopause!!

This is - just a picture...im not actually sad, but it was a single thought that lasted probably 3 minutes then threw in a multitude of emotions. Anxiety followed, then panic, then anger, then thought of despair...then the physical set in...itchiness, sweats and dizziness then exhaustion...TBH im not completely versed in knowledge of menopause however, this is the first time in some months that these Red Light Alerts have gone off.

I dont want to shut this down, because hey its good to have a cry - it releases built up angst and tension we hold onto...but if Im really putting myself out there, you need to see that I break-down too.

A couple of weeks ago I caught up with Veronica from ...it was definately more than a visit...
I was completely blown away and quite emotional to find out that Ange (Business Manager [pic above]) had chosen for her $1000 donation on behalf of the Community Bank Bacchus Marsh celebrating its 11th year.

This is truly an honour. There is so many meaningful charities and community focus operations within our amazing 3340...again, to be chosen in this capacity I am truly appreciative and a true honour...

Thankyou Ange, and also everyone from Community Bank for believing in me and supporting this event from the starting days of the fundraiser to this day on

Inherited Cancers Australia have shared their tribute to Get Your PINK On Fundraiser and how much it means to them but I wanted to share my little bit.
My appreciation to Sarah Bash (ICA) and Kara Britt from Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre who have attended as guest speakers since 2023, and continue to come to this event. They share their Saturday with us sharing the knowledge they hold and bring their passion to a room full of people who want to listen...who are wanting to open their mind to hear that Knowledge Is Power.
I have people who have attended the fundraiser for 3 years, and everytime I'm told by them that listening to these two incredible women is captivating, heartfelt and when they leave on the day, they feel better.

This year, I bought Q&A to the floor and this bought a whole new atmosphere to the room. Thankyou to all who put their hand up. It brings a whole new level of "personal" to the day 🩷🩷🩷

Sarah and Kara...thankyou always
