Ive decided to share the above exhert from a story shared on Menopause Mandate which outlines what I have heard more than once from friends, family members, co-workers. The fact that Ive heard it MORE than once is the troubling part. The same topic keeps coming up, and this is why I am working towards building an event focussed on Women's Health, Self-Advocacy and learning a little about Peri-Menopause and Menopause and continuing the importance that Knowledge Is Power!!!!
I can't bad-mouth the professionals, because its not all on them. Menopause (peri/meno/post) knowledge is still in its infancy and unless professionals want to open their minds to more knowledge and understanding, im sorry to say - it is UP TO US!!!
We know when something isnt right in our mind, body and whole self. We just have to be strong and understand what it means to self-advocate. Our health, women's health really does matter. Know that. You are important and just because one person tells you an answer, it may not be correct.
If your attending a medical appointment you need to be prepared. Ask your healthcare professional questions. Question the questions and answers given in your appointment. HOW? WHY? WHAT? After you do question, you still may have the feeling that the answer you were seeking, wasn't the right one.
GET YOUR SPARKLE ON will be have 2 guest speakers. Very soon I will be highlighting them and their specific focus.
These ladies have built their knowledge from lived experiences. Furthered their knowledge so they can assist you.
I hope that this event will help you, help in more ways than one. A Ladies Night Out IS helping you just by "getting out". A night to share in laughter and fun, sillies and shenanigans - with your "group"...and what if I can assist and bring knowledge to the room that's an added bonus.
