For his family he was known as Peppe but to the greater Petanque community he was known as Pino. We learned today that Pino sadly passed away.
I remember meeting Pino at a young age and knew that playing against him was going to be a hard game as he was truely a great talent, although not playing at much at the club recently you knew that he still had that competitive look in his eye.
The photo below are of him holding the Australia Championship (unfortunately not sure of the year) but also a couple of ex members Antonio Santiago and Odette Santiago
We will miss you Pino, Rest In Peace.
Here are some words from his family;
Rest in Peace
Giusseppe Giovanni Mercuri
Our beloved "Peppe"
Peppe lead an extraordinary life well into his 90's that saw him live on many continents of the world. An incredibly talented musician and a lover of life who had wonderful stories to share with all. A clever man who could speak many languages who was proud of his heritage and family, Peppe was always the life of any party.
On behalf of Tina and the Mercuri family we invite you to honour a life well lived.
