VANUATU UPDATE ๐ช๐ป๐บ
Many people back home have been interested in hearing about our recent Vanuatu venture and have loved following the stories along the way.
The reality is that across all of our South Pacific Circus projects in Fiji and Vanuatu, the vast majority has been self-funded by us at South Coast Circus; a small family business, not a large organisation.
On our most recent trip to Vanuatu we were fortunate to receive support from McLaren Vale Lions, Dr Kaye, Crunchtime Aerial Equipment, and a private donor, which was greatly appreciated ๐๐๐
We were also incredibly well looked after by Wan Smolbag and The Beach Bar in exchange for sharing our expertise.
The reality, though, is that these projects have still cost us money overallโฆ something we have never minded, because this is a project we feel deeply passionate about, and the experience and cultural exchange have been priceless.
Moving forward, however, weโre extremely keen to continue building this project. With rent, rates, and costs continuing to rise, however (and hitting us hard like many other small businesses) funding travel and equipment ourselves long-term becomes increasingly difficult.
With that said, weโre very excited to announce that weโve just been awarded a $5,000 grant from the McLaren Vale Districts and Community Op Shop to help us return to Vanuatu in 2027 ๐๐ค๐
Weโre also currently in discussions with another generous donor about maintaining and strengthening connections in the meantime.
Weโve now set up a donation page for anyone who would like to contribute towards purchasing circus equipment that we can take to, and leave in Vanuatu next year.
