Nail Can Hill Run

Nail Can Hill Run Proudly sponsored by Easyshed. One of Australia's longest running events and an icon in the Albury Wodonga region. Held on the first Sunday in May each year.

In 2010, the Rotary Club of Albury West assumed responsibility for the organisation of the event which has continued to grow since. In line with our vision to support local groups we are pleased to announce that all profits raised from the event in 2017 will go to Carevan Albury and YES Youth & Family Services.

Friends and family formed a special human tunnel to welcome Peter Harper across the line in a mock finish of the Full Can at this year’s Nail Can Hill Run.

Peter was one of the original founders of the event, launching the Nail Can Hill Run in 1977 alongside Lester Sawyer. Nearly five decades later, his contribution to one of the region’s most iconic community events continues to be celebrated.

A very special thank you to Albury City Council for their incredible support of the Nail Can Hill Run over the past 50 years.

From funding and erecting the banner stretched across Dean Street, to access to the Nail Can Hill site itself, Bonnie Doon Park usage approvals, safety cones, barriers for the finishing chute, wheelie bins and countless behind-the-scenes logistical support items — Council assistance is woven right through the fabric of the event.

The Nail Can Hill Run has become one of the region’s great community traditions, and for five decades Albury City Council has been a valued and dependable partner in helping make it happen.

Thank you for your longstanding commitment to this event and for continuing to support the spirit of the hill.

A sincere thank you to True Grit 4WD Club for keeping our runners hydrated across Nail Can Hill on race day.

With four water stations spread across the course, the True Grit team played an important role in helping competitors push through the challenge of the hill safely and strongly. Whether runners were chasing a personal best, tackling the course for the first time, or simply trying to make it to the finish line, those welcome bottles of water made a real difference.

Like so much of the Nail Can Hill Run, this support happens through the generosity of community volunteers quietly getting the job done behind the scenes.

We greatly appreciate the time, effort and enthusiasm the True Grit 4WD Club brought to the event once again this year. Thank you for helping keep the spirit of the hill alive. https://www.truegrit4wdclub.au/

A huge thank you to St John Ambulance for their outstanding support of this year’s Nail Can Hill Run and Mountain Bike Challenge.

From early morning set-up to the final competitor crossing the line, the St John's team was there providing professional first aid support and peace of mind for participants, volunteers and spectators alike.

The photo captures the team ready for action before the start of the mountain bike event — fully equipped, fully prepared and ready for any eventuality. Thankfully, their calm presence and expertise are something we hope we never need, but are incredibly grateful to have on site.

Events like the Nail Can Hill Run simply could not operate safely without the dedication and commitment of organisations like St John Ambulance.

Thank you for once again helping make the day a safe and successful community event.

For many years, the team at Martin's Albury has played a vital role in helping the Nail Can Hill Run operate smoothly — and this year was no exception.

Before the first runners tackled the Hill, Martins’ buses were already hard at work, transporting participants from Bonnie Doon Park to the start line at Centaur Road. It is one of those behind-the-scenes jobs that keeps the entire event moving.

What makes their contribution even more special is that Martins provides this support on a voluntary basis, year after year, in the true spirit of community partnership.

From all of us involved with the Nail Can Hill Run, thank you to Martins Albury for your longstanding support, generosity and commitment to helping make the event such a success. We simply could not do it without you.

Congratulations to all participants in the Arnold's Half Can for 2026.
