Tasting Australia

Tasting Australia Tasting Australia presented by Journey Beyond returns from 8—17 May 2026 for another 10 day celebration of eating and drinking in South Australia.

Tasting Australia presented by Journey Beyond is a celebration of eating and drinking. It's a showcase of all things South Australian: our people, our produce and our place. Each autumn we invite audiences to step beyond a standard food festival and discover deliciously different experiences that feed their curiosity. Indulgent lunches with friends, boutique beverages served fireside in Town Squar

e and menus created by world-class chefs are just a taste. Tasting Australia presented by Journey Beyond inspires visitors, chefs, producers, media and buyers to experience the best of our state – and ensures local audiences are always at the party too.

Tasting Australia presented by Journey Beyond may be over for another year, but the impact continues long after the last plate was cleared. 🌱

Across the festival, we worked with partners, producers, chefs and community organisations to help make this year’s event more sustainable, accessible and connected:

🦪 Oyster, mussel and scallop shells collected in Town Square through OzFish’s Shells for Reefs program, helping create new reef habitat along South Australia’s coastline.

🍽️ Reusable glassware available for visitors in Town Square, biodegradable tableware across the festival and reusable enamel plates used at regional managed events to help reduce waste.

🌱 A partnership with BiobiN to compost food waste from Town Square vendors, creating composting materials that can be returned to South Australian businesses.

♿ Accessibility initiatives across Town Square including accessible parking, drop-off locations, wheelchair access, quiet hours, accessible toilets and baby change facilities.

🫶 Supporting social impact programs through partnerships with organisations including OzHarvest, along with opportunities for TAFE students to work alongside chefs at ticketed events.

Some meals stay with you long after the last bite 😌

The kind that stop conversation, shift perspective and make you rethink what food can be.

This year, Tasting Australia served up plenty of those moments — smoky late-night feasts, dishes layered with story and place, unforgettable flavours from some of the country’s best chefs, and tables full of strangers who left as friends.

These weren’t just good meals. They were the ones you’ll still be talking about years from now.

Which dish from Tasting Australia changed your life a little?

One week on and we’re still reliving our favourite festival moments 🎞️

Across for 10 days in May, tables filled, glasses clinked and conversations stretched long past ‘just one more’. From Town Square to regional feasts, chef collaborations, late-night dance floors and lunches that turned into dinners, this year’s festival was about so much more than what was on the plate or in the glass – it was about the magic that happened around it.

Town Square’s greenery is heading to a new home 🌿

This year, the plants used in Town Square have been donated to the Unley Gardener's Plant Rescue, who conduct regular plant sales with all proceeds donated to local charities.

Want to take a piece of the festival home? Head down to the Fullarton Park Community Centre this Sunday 24 May from 9.30am to 11.30am to score some of our festival greenery for your own garden. Follow Unley Gardener's Plant Rescue for all the details.
