African Nations Cup - South Australia

African Nations Cup - South Australia The Inaugural competition was held in 2001, organised by Egypt (Claude Malak). Liberia first played under their own flag in 2005.

One of the two flagship events of the year for the African Communities Council of South Australia, the African Nations Cup of SA brings teams together from all over South Australia, representing their African nations to compete in this exclusive soccer tournament. The event kicked off with only around four Nations but the number later doubled and tripled. The participating Nations back then were S

udan, Egypt, Kenya, Botswana, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, DR Congo and West Africa. Since its inception the African Nations Cup of SA has become a showcase of global football talent, attracting over 10,000 spectators and helping to identify Australia's next generation of football stars. Participants have gone on to represent Australia and their African countries of birth in international football tournaments. The tournament also helps to unite the young and diverse African community with other communities in South Australia, breaking down social and cultural barriers. WINNING NATIONS

To our past leaders—Dr William Kagwa, Mr Ben Yengi, the late Dr James Lodiong, Dr Joseph Masika, and Mr Mabok Deng Mabok Marial—thank you for paving the way.
