Bridgestone World Solar Challenge

Bridgestone World Solar Challenge The 3,021km journey from Darwin to Adelaide through the Australian Outback can be harsh, unpredictable, and extreme. It's all of these.

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is a biennial event pitching the world's brightest emerging minds in engineering against one another to build and operate a solar car from Darwin to Adelaide, South Australia through the harsh Australian outback The blistering sun that powers the car, specifically designed for the World Solar Challenge, can push daytime temperatures over 50 degrees. There are

tropical downpours, vicious crosswinds, willy willies and dust storms. Then there are road trains-53 metre monsters barrelling along at 100Kph. Ask what the World Solar Challenge is about, and you will get many answers. There are so many elements driving technology in electric vehicles today, that the Challenge is no longer about any one advancement in photovoltaics, energy management, advanced materials or electrical engineering alone. Ultimately it is a design Challenge that rewards innovation, teamwork and human endeavour. COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

In the Toyota Challenger Class, it’s all about solar collection and strategy over energy storage. Cars are allowed six square metres of solar collector and just three kilowatt-hours of storage capacity. This encourages teams to explore additional energy sources, like the battle of the fins that sailed on the wind in 2025. Beyond solar, Toyota Challenger teams are expected to continue this new energy innovation and optimisation – what secret weapons will be revealed in 2027?

⚡ Move your home to all-electric and be a part of the clean energy future! 🌏💚 Heating, cooling, cooking and appliances are responsible for around 42% of greenhouse gas emissions in 10 million Australian homes. Make the switch to all-electric in 5 simple steps:

🔆 Install solar or switch to GreenPower
❄️ Switch to reverse-cycle air conditioning
🚰 Replace old gas hot water with a heat pump system
🍳 Upgrade to induction cooking
🚴🚗 Move to electric transport (bikes and cars)

Let's work together towards a sustainable future for ourselves and generations to come! 🌿https://bit.ly/4p1gkQP
