Fool’s Paradise Wraps a Record 2026 Adelaide Fringe Season & Previews 2027

Victoria Square, Adelaide, SA — As Fool’s Paradise closes the gates on a vibrant and highly successful 2026 Adelaide Fringe season with record crowds and sales, it has cemented its place as one of the festival’s most distinctive and artist‑focused precincts.

Across its record third Adelaide Fringe season, Fool’s Paradise hosted 60 shows, welcomed tens of thousands of audience members, and delivered a bold mix of comedy, cabaret, circus, music and late‑night mischief — all underpinned by a strong commitment to supporting artists and creating unforgettable shared experiences.

Fool’s Paradise Co‑Director Thomas Gorham said the success of the 2026 season came down to clarity of vision, strong programming and a deep connection with audiences.

“What made Fool’s Paradise such a success in 2026 was the strength of the shows, the calibre of the artists and the atmosphere we created together,” Gorham said.
“Audiences came back night after night because they trusted the experience — they knew they’d see something bold, surprising and genuinely fun.”

Throughout the season, Fool’s Paradise sold a record 42,000 tickets across its exciting program, with standout performances drawing strong word‑of‑mouth and repeat visitation.
Producing and performing during the same Fringe season brought its own challenges — and rewards.
“Producing shows while also performing is intense, but it’s incredibly rewarding,” Gorham said.
“Being on both sides gives you a real understanding of what artists need, and that absolutely shapes how we run the precinct.”

Among the highlights of the 2026 Fool’s Paradise program were family friendly favourites like Best of Fringe award winner KAPUT, and Giant Balloon Show, The Magic Parlour, and All-Star Circus, and adult shows like the Best of Fringe Award winning Tomas Clifford Got Stood Up, along with the brilliant Burlesque with Evana De Lune, Lash Out & Teardrops on My D***o, and the multi-award-winning Elixir Revived with audiences responding strongly to both emerging talent and returning favourites.

Fool’s Paradise Co‑Director Callan Harris said Fool’s Paradise welcomed over 70,000 people across the 2026 season, with the precinct becoming a must‑visit destination for Fringe‑goers.
“The key ingredients behind the success of Fool’s Paradise in 2026 were great artists, a strong team and a clear creative vision,” Harris said.
“People came for a show and stayed for the atmosphere — that’s when you know it’s working.”

“There were moments throughout the season where it was clear we’d hit something special,” Harris said.
“Seeing audiences connect so strongly with the artists and the space was incredibly rewarding.”
Central to Fool’s Paradise’s identity is its commitment to artists — particularly emerging and supporting performers.

“We work hard to keep Fool’s Paradise fresh while staying true to its spirit of backing artists,” Harris said.
“That means creating opportunities, giving artists the support they need, and building a precinct where creativity can really thrive,” said Harris.

Looking ahead, Gorham said audiences can expect even more variety and scale in 2027.
“For Adelaide Fringe 2027, we’re planning to expand both the number of shows and the range of experiences on offer — while staying true to what Fool’s Paradise does best.”

Planning is already underway for Adelaide Fringe 2027 at Fool’s Paradise, with Harris excited about what’s next for the site itself.

“For 2027, we’re looking at how we can further develop the site — enhancing the audience experience while creating even more opportunities for artists, vendors, and partners,” said Harris.

With another successful season complete, Fool’s Paradise now turns its focus to building on the momentum — promising a bigger, bolder and even more playful return to Victoria Square for Adelaide Fringe 2027.
