EXCESSIVE COMPANIONSHIP — the culinary experience

For the final performance of EXCESSIVE COMPANIONSHIP, Marianna Mondelos translates Lena Schattenberg’s artistic work into a culinary experience. Her programme takes up the themes explored in THE ACCUMULATION, responding to the relationship between excess as an embodied state and the decelerated, ecological rhythms of a living system, while drawing directly from the surroundings of the Kleine Stadt Farm.

The culinary response begins with welcome shots of the Viennese herbal liqueur Kalê, accompanied by bites harvested and arranged directly from the Kleine Stadt Farm. From hand-picked elderberries and radiant sunflower blossoms to wild chives, the surroundings of the farm are reflected in the bites.

A sweet course will create a moment of collective connection and will take place between the performance and the artist talk with Christina Gillinger-Correa Vivar.

EXCESSIVE COMPANIONSHIP
The Final Performance

After four weeks of daily practice, accumulation, repetition and exchange, Lena Schattenberg’s Lena Schattenberg Artist-in-Residence project EXCESSIVE COMPANIONSHIP culminates in a final performance at the Kleine Stadt Farm.

Since 19 August, THE ACCUMULATION has been growing day by day, a physical exploration of excess, intensity, exhaustion and renewal, shaped by the rhythms of the farm and by texts and voices gathered from the local community.

The final performance will be accompanied by a culinary programme by Marianna Mondelos marianna αρετή mondelos , developed in collaboration with Lena Schattenberg and inspired by the themes of THE ACCUMULATION.

The evening will conclude with an artist talk with Christina Gillinger-Correa Vivar Christina Gillinger-Correa Vivar ,reflecting on the residency, the artistic process and the questions that emerged along the way.

Join us for the final performance and the closing of this four-week artistic process.

THE MANY DANCE – Layers of Coexistence
A collective movement workshop with Lena Schattenberg

A workshop for everyone who enjoys moving, no dance experience needed! Through guided exercises and collaborative improvisations, we’ll tune into our surroundings, the weather, the movements of nature, into its shapes, colors, and textures, into the many rhythms around us, and into each other.

Lena will share what she has been exploring during her two-week residency at Kleine Stadt Farm. The Many Dance is a continuously evolving practice she has developed over the years in diverse contexts, from Tanzquartier Wien to Public Moves (ImpulsTanz).

Come join us, open to all!

Lena Schattenberg is currently Artist in Residence at Kleine Stadt Farm, where she performs daily Wednesday to Sunday at 5 pm: EXCESSIVE COMPANIONSHIP – Witness & Write, a performance that grows by 5 minutes each day. Come by, watch, and write along!

Du bist eingeladen, Lena Schattenbergs tägliche Performances auf der KLEINE STADT FARM mitzuerleben.

Mittwoch–Sonntag, Beginn jeweils um 17 Uhr, ab dem 19. August mit einer 5-minütigen Performance — die Performance wird jeden Tag 5 Minuten länger.

Treffpunkt: Wenn du die Kleine Stadtfarm betrittst, rechts in den Durchgang (markierte Stelle siehe Karte).

Du kannst einfach zuschauen. Oder — du bist eingeladen, aufzuschreiben, was beim Zuschauen in dir auftaucht: Assoziationen, Bilder, Geschichten, Erinnerungen.

Deine Texte kannst du in Lenas Briefkasten hinterlassen.

Deine Worte fließen möglicherweise in die stetig wachsende Klanglandschaft ein, die die Performance begleitet.

EXCESSIVE COMPANIONSHIP — Abschlussperformance

Freitag, 11. September, 17 Uhr auf der KLEINE STADT FARM

Vier Wochen lang ist die Performance jeden Tag um 5 Minuten gewachsen. Sei dabei, wenn sie ihre volle Länge erreicht — die letzte Ausführung der täglichen Praxis — im Anschluss gibt es ein Gespräch mit Lena Schattenberg über den Prozess, die Residency und die gesammelten Texte und Stimmen.

We are excited to announce Lena Schattenberg as the selected artist for the 2026 Artist-in-Residence programme at KLEINE STADT FARM.

Chosen from 144 applications, Lena Schattenberg Lena Schattenberg will spend four weeks on site developing EXCESSIVE COMPANIONSHIP, a performative research project exploring excess, accumulation and exhaustion.

Throughout the residency, visitors will have opportunities to engage with her artistic process through participatory formats such as Watch&Write Sessions and The Many Dance workshop, creating spaces for exchange, observation and collective reflection.

The residency runs from 17 August–13 September 2026 and culminates in a public presentation of the choreography on 11 September 2026.

Stay tuned for opportunities to participate and follow the development of the project over the coming weeks.

Es geht los! Wir renovieren!

Wir starten mit der Renovierung des SALETTL, für mehr Barrierefreiheit, nachhaltige Wärmedämmung und bessere Sicherheit bei Veranstaltungen.

Ein Jahr lang wird gewerkelt, verbessert und verschönert, damit ab dem Herbst 2026 ein Ort entsteht, der offen, klimafreundlich und zukunftsfähig ist.

Zwischen Leidenschaft und Grenzen – nachhaltiges Wirken in Kunst, Aktivismus und Gemeinschaftsprojekten

Vielen Dank an und für ihre künstlerischen Beiträge, die einen so angenehmen Rahmen geschaffen und das Thema Selbstausbeutung eindrücklich auf den Punkt gebracht haben.
