Experience the rich, evocative layers of Lithuanian contemporary choral music.
This is a fragment of a performance by the Mixed Choir of the Juozas Gruodis Conservatory, featuring “Ažuolėlis šimtasašakis” by Vaclovas Augustinas inspired by Lithuanian folklore. In Lithuanian folklore, the oak tree (ąžuolas) is more than just a plant it is a powerful symbol of life and identity. The “hundred-branched oak” represents the Lithuanian family and spirit: roots our ancestors, trunk the present generation and branches the children reaching toward the future.

Watch the GAIDA Youth Choir (Algirdas Music School, Vilnius, Lithuania) deliver a performance of Keith Hampton’s gospel piece “Praise His Holy Name.” From the historic stage of the Ehrbar Hall (Ehrbarsaal) in Vienna, under the direction of Lina Tomkevičienė and accompanied by Viktorija Švedavičienė on piano, this performance was a true highlight of the We Are Singing Vienna 2026 festival
