BAM è un festival di teatro, musica e arti visive dedicato ai popoli e alle culture dei Paesi che si affacciano sul mare Mediterraneo. Un dialogo integrato, di confronto e partecipazione: in una città come Palermo, che ha visto sommarsi le dominazioni, vivere l’uno accanto all’altro è la norma. La Biennale, oggi alla sua 4° edizione, è promossa dalla Fondazione MENO e supportata da collaborazioni

di prestigio con Fondazione Merz e Fondazione Orestiadi, su direzione artistica di Andrea Cusumano. Dopo il sincretismo mediterraneo (1°ed, Palermo_2017), il superamento del muro (Übermauer 2°ed, Palermo_2019), e lo Spazio insaturo (3°ed, Palermo, 2022), BAM diventa adesso un "Orizzonte fluido”. Mille lingue, mille orientamenti, tanti nord, sud, orienti ed occidenti. Una bussola impazzita orienta adesso i naviganti che traghettano i propri vascelli verso un orizzonte fluido. Lì dove non esistono più riferimenti comuni, resta la condivisione di un orizzonte. L’edizione 2024 della Biennale si svolgerà ad Agrigento tra centro storico e luoghi decentrati, fondazioni private e siti naturalistici, proponendo interventi in stretto rapporto con le associazioni del territorio, i centri di cultura straniera, i festival, i musei e gli artisti. Un arcipelago millenario d'identità in continuo divenire tra oriente e occidente.

BAM is a theatre, music and visual arts festival dedicated to the peoples and cultures of the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. An integrated dialogue, of confrontation and participation: in a city like Palermo, which has seen a succession of dominations, living side by side is the norm. The Biennial, now in its 4th edition, is promoted by the MENO Foundation and supported by prestigious collaborations with the Merz Foundation and the Orestiadi Foundation, under the artistic direction of Andrea Cusumano. After "Sincretismo mediterraneo" (1°ed, Palermo_2017), "Superamento del muro" (Übermauer 2°ed, Palermo_2019), "Spazio insaturo" (3°ed, Palermo, 2022), BAM this year will be "Orizzonte fluido”. A thousand languages, a thousand orientations, many north, south, east and west. My west, your west. My north, your south. A compass gone mad now orients the sailors who ferry their vessels towards a fluid horizon. Where there are no longer common references, there remains the sharing of a horizon. The 2024 edition of the Biennial will take place in Agrigento between the historic centre and decentralised locations, private foundations and natural sites, proposing interventions in close relationship with local associations, centres of foreign culture, festivals, museums and artists. A millenary archipelago of identity in constant evolution between East and West.

Andrea Cusumano (geboren 1973 in Palermo) ist ein internationaler Multimedia-Künstler, Performer, Komponist, Maler, Regisseur, Dramaturg, Autor, Kurator und Art Director italienisch-britischer Herkunft.
Er lernte Hermann Nitsch 1992 während eines Kurses in Salzburg kennen, den Nitsch leitete. Es war der Beginn einer beruflichen Beziehung & Freundschaft, die bis zum Tode Nitschs im Jahr 2022 andauerte.

Andrea Cusumanos Werk, er spricht in diesem Zusammenhang gerne über seine Experimente und seine Forschung, konzentriert sich auf das dramaturgische Potenzial von Objekten und Räumen. Cusumano schafft letztendlich theaterreferenzierte Raumdramaturgien. Deren zentrale Themen reichen vom Tod über die Transzendenz bis hin zu einer möglichen Katharsis, die Kunst tatsächlich auslösen kann.

Ob Bangkok, Palermo, Wien, Istanbul oder London: Andrea Cusumano war bereits mit zahlreichen Ausstellungen & Performances auf der ganzen Welt vertreten.

Mehr dazu bald im nitsch museum, denn ab 03.03.2024 ist Cusumano mit "ANDREA CUSUMANO - RAUMDRAMATURGIE. Retrospektive 1993-2023" zu sehen. Wir freuen uns!

Per raccontare le culture del Mare Nostrum, nasce BAM, prima Biennale Arcipelago Mediterraneo, promossa dall’Assessorato alla Cultura del Comune di Palermo e supportata da collaborazioni di prestigio con Imago Mundi Art e Luciano Benetton Collection, Fondazione Merz e Fondazione Sicilia. Dal 10 febbraio al 12 marzo, spalmata sull’intera città tra centro storico e luoghi decentrati, tra fondazioni private e spazi pubblici, la Biennale propone un ricco cartellone di eventi elaborato in stretto rapporto con le associazioni del territorio, i centri di cultura straniera, i festival, i musei e gli artisti. Un arcipelago millenario d'identità in continuo divenire tra oriente e occidente. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BAM, at its first edition, is a Theater, Music and Visual Arts Festival dedicated to the population and cultures of the Mediterranean Area, with the aim of supporting and promoting the communication between them. Its intent is as well the development and safeguard of the artistic and cultural heritage in its various expressions. BAM is promoted by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the city of Palermo, in partnership with Imago Mundi Art and Luciano Benetton Collection, Fondazione Merz and Fondazione Sicilia. The festival will last from February 10th to March 12th, spreading itself over the entire city including historical sites and decentralized places, private foundations and public spaces, offering a rich program of events developed in collaboration with local associations, foreign culture centers, festivals, museums and artists. A millenary identitary archipelago constantly evolving between East and West.
