As Peter Thiel sparks debate in Austria, this Elevate panel feels especially timely.

The discussion explores the ideas, power structures and political imaginaries shaping Silicon Valley politics, with Wolfgang Palaver, a leading Girard scholar who has known Thiel personally for many years, among the contributors.

Elevate at Dom im Berg 2026

One of the most popular spots at Elevate is Dom im Berg. Due to its unique architecture the Dom im Berg is probably the most original venue in Graz. The idea to build a multi-functional art space in the middle of Graz inside the rock of Schlossberg, was implemented in 1999 and opened at the National Exhibition in 2000. With a total area of 733 square meters and a height of 11 meters, it offers space for a wide variety of events.

🎧 Elevate Podcast is live!

All panels, lectures, and discussions from the Elevate Discourse Programme 2026 are now available as a podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

In 2026, the discourse programme explored the vital signs of our time – asking how vitality can be found or generated within systems that appear exhausted and under severe pressure: in the economy and the climate, in political institutions, in media publics, and in interpersonal relations.

Maxime Denuc performed a mesmerising organ concert at Grazer Dom, unveiling the world premiere of his upcoming album, set for release this April.

Across shifting tones and resonant frequencies, the space itself seemed to breathe with the music, drawing the audience into a deeply immersive, almost meditative state.

A rare and unforgettable experience that lingered long after the final note faded.

Douglas Rushkoff: “Reclaiming the Digital Future”

At Elevate Festival, media theorist Douglas Rushkoff unpacked how the digital revolution has evolved: from the early hopes of internet culture to the rise of platform monopolies and techno-authoritarian power structures. What often appears as rapid innovation, he argues, is deeply shaped by the ideologies and interests of Silicon Valley.

But his perspective goes beyond critique: Rushkoff challenges us to rethink our relationship with technology by questioning who it really serves and who it leaves behind.
