The goal of the Festival is to continue the tradition initiated at the International Jazz & Wine Festival 2014 in Berat, where culture, art, music, cultural tourism and communication between international culinary are brought in the same event. While striving for the same artistic goals, this edition’s motto is: “The earth has music for those who listen” (W. Because if we are unable
to listen the music of earth and nature, nothing is of any value, all is vain, if there is no air to breath, no water to drink and no soil to seed. The same way life and music are gifts, nature is a gift which we should pass on to those we love. One of the major reasons for selecting Porto Palermo Bay as the venue of this international cultural event is the awareness that we must have in order to protect nature. Also, this festival aims at reinforcing the awareness toward the rare sites of historical, museal and natural values, which should be protected and transmitted from generation to generation. Another goal for Jazz & Wine 2017 is turning music into a mean of communication between nations of neighbor countries. The Festival will invite on its stages artists from Albania and the wider Balkan countries, like Kosova, Macedonia, Serbia, New Zealand, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Columbia, Germany, Netherland, Turkey, etc., but not only, thus turning the Bay of Panormos (the ancient name for the Porto Palermo Bay, which means “a protected place”) into a harbor of communication through music. Porto Palermo Bay is situated quite in the middle of the Albanian Riviera, between Himara and Saranda. The entire region is famous for its clean blue seawater, the idyllic nature, the monuments of the cultural heritage and the pure local traditional food, which are the attractions of the summer touristic season. By organizing the International Jazz & Wine Festival 2017 in a location where the natural landscape is protected by law, the organizers and supporters seek to raise awareness on the importance of protecting the natural resources and promoting eco tourism. We want to transmit to the coming generations the real nature of Albania, not its photograph. The second edition of the International Jazz & Wine Festival presents the most distinguished wines produced in Albania, in a conversation with wines of Macedonia, Kosova, Greece, Germany, Italy, France, etc., accompanied by the local traditional food and culinary delicacies. The Festival will take place on 7th and 8th of July 2017, in one big open stage located at the peninsula of the Castle of Porto Palermo, and in two other indoor stages inside the fortress of Ali Pasha.
