Ocean Oarsmen

Ocean Oarsmen Meet Ben and Henry, two mildly competent oarsmen with big ambition!

Thus far, we've tackled the Thames as river rowers but now have our sights set on rowing the Atlantic in aid of raising £50,000 for Alexander Devine Children's Hospice.

Enjoy our one take wonder with an ice cream. We’ve had a blast here in Antigua catching up with crews and relaxing. We’ll be back with you all in the grey damp weather soon 🇬🇧

Wait for the bubbles 🤿🫧

Pegasus was feeling preeetty slow, so it was time to investigate. Turns out she just needed a good old hull scrub, and Henry was the man for the job!

With an ETA of Friday 30th January, we are officially just DAYS away from reaching Antigua. Flares at the ready, reunions with friends and family on the horizon, and a very big, juicy burger calling our names!

Before we get there, we would love your help spreading the word so we can smash our £50k fundraising target for the incredible Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice 🫶🏻

A few very special shout outs 🌟

First and foremost, a huge thank you to everyone who has followed this journey, shared our story, commented, liked, donated, and supported us in any way. We truly could not have done this without you.

A massive shout out to Shiplake College for hosting an incredible ergathalon, and to the Beehive team for putting together an amazing fundraiser on Christmas Day. The support has meant the world to us.

And finally, an enormous thank you to our gold sponsor, Abercore. Your support made this crazy adventure possible, all in aid of an incredible cause.

There will never be enough thank yous, but with us arriving into Antigua this week on 🤞🏻January 30th 🤞🏻- we’re looking forward to thanking you all properly very soon.

Not long now!

£50,000 for children & families who need it most.

We’re Ben and Henry, Team Ocean Oarsmen, rowing 3000 miles from La Gomera to Antigua across the Atlantic.

Why? To raise £50,000 for the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice.

This incredible hospice relies on donations for 81% of its funding. That means support like yours is what keeps their doors open and their care going for children and families who need it most.

Every single donation, big or small, truly changes lives. If you can, please consider donating here https://www.justgiving.com/page/ocean-oarsmen-1 💙

Let’s spread the word, smash this target, and bring it home for them. Thank you SO much.

Certainly didn’t see that one coming!

After one close call, another followed soon after, this time from the other side 🌊

More than anything, we want to say a huge thank you to our sponsors and to everyone following along and supporting us. You’ve all been incredible.

As we continue pushing towards our £50k target for the amazing Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, we’d love your help to keep sharing the journey and building momentum.

No arts & crafts this week, folks.

Instead, it’s recital time with Ben 📖

A huge shout out to the Maidenhead Rowing Club for the inspired mix of lovely and questionably distasteful messages. Truly, we don’t know how we’d have coped without them 🫶🏻

Tune in next week for chapter two 🤓

Mother Nature showing what she’s made of.

A whole different dimension! One wave looked the size of a house and best believe we hit 13 knots, our fastest yet 🌊

No words can truly describe this feeling.

Absolutely mental.
