India and Brazil have signed an MoU to strengthen cooperation across the steel and mining value chain. 🇮🇳🇧🇷

Signed between the Ministry of Steel, Government of India and Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (Ministério de Minas e Energia), the agreement formalises collaboration across exploration, extraction, processing, recycling and environmental management.

The partnership will priorities investment into mining and infrastructure, advancing mineral processing and beneficiation, promoting automation and AI-led geoscientific data analysis, and improving access to key steelmaking minerals including iron ore, manganese, nickel and niobium.

With India’s steel capacity now at 218 million tonnes and demand continuing to rise, securing raw materials and upgrading processing capability is becoming increasingly strategic.

The UAE and Uzbekistan have signed a new MoU to expand cooperation across Uzbekistan’s mining sector, accelerating investment, modernising infrastructure, and strengthening economic ties. 🇦🇪🤝🇺🇿

The agreement will support development across the full minerals value chain, backed by upgrades in power, renewables, water systems, logistics and sector digitalisation.

In 2024, the UAE's investment in Uzbekistan reached 1.3 billion, with renewable energy projects accounting for approximately $700 million. Uzbekistan's mining sector profile includes gold, copper, uranium, coal, oil and natural gas.

The Middle East is positioning itself within global critical-minerals supply chains, with mining investment accelerating across the region.

The Mazoon Copper Project in Oman is a key example of this with a $400 million investment that will become the country’s largest copper concentrate operation! 🇴🇲

The project is designed to process 2.5 million tonnes of ore per year, producing approximately 115,000 tonnes of copper concentrate at a 21.5% copper grade. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027, positioning Oman within global copper supply chains at a time of sustained demand growth driven by electrification, renewable energy infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing.

Mazoon reflects broader regional trends across the Middle East:
