This page is set up to provide information of the Dubai 24 Hour Cycling Distance Challenge being held at Al Qudra on 21st April 2017. You can either ride solo or team of 3 ride around Al Qudra. Trophies sponsored by The Cycle House for top 3 Solo Riders and Top 3 teams. The Rules
1. All riders to begin each lap with 2 full water bottles. This is for safety, this is a long ride, please do not und
er-estimate the heat.
2. The ride is open to solo riders and teams of 3. Team members are required to be present at all times. Only one team member is allowed to ride at any given time.
3. Both road and TT bikes are allowed. Riders are allowed to switch between different bikes during the ride.
4. Front and rear lights are compulsory during the night.
5. The ride will start at 12:00 on a Friday from the car park at the top of Al Qudra and finish 24 hours later. There will be a grace period of 15 min for finishing the last lap. Any lap completed after12:15 will not count toward end results.
6. Each lap has to be recorded on the check sheet provided and countersigned by a member of another team.
7. Each lap must be recorded on a gps device (Garmin or similar).
8. Riders are free to ride clockwise or anticlockwise the main loop with either one or two extensions. Riders are not allowed to switch riding direction halfway through the lap.
9. Riders are not allowed to ride any of the extensions more than once.
10. To eliminate differences from GPS readings the distances will be accounted as follows :
- Loop 49 km
- Loop + Small Extension 67.4 km
- Loop + Big Extension 81 km
- Loop + 2 Extensions 99.4 km
11. Riders are required to observe a non-draft zone of 10 m from any bike in front. Riders are permitted to ride abreast.
12. Riders must carry some form of ID with emergency contact on them and a phone with the emergency number programmed in. Numbers are provided in this pack.
13. Each rider / team is responsible for their own nutrition (although our sponsor will provide some), extra power banks to recharge phones and bike computers (bring on the go cables so you can charge as you ride), chairs, camp beds, tents etc
14. Participants are not to receive any external assistance while out riding, unless in an emergency.
15. If a fellow rider is injured or in trouble, please stop and assist.
16. Compulsory race briefing will take place at Al Qudra top car park where we will set camp at 11:45 on Friday the 21st of April.
