Join Martin Heng, Head of Content, Vacayit, Australia, as he talks about “Dubai—An Admirable Accessible Global Destination” at the 5th Accessible Travel and Tourism International Conference (ATTIC 2025).

In his presentation, he explains that accessible tourism is both a moral responsibility and a major business opportunity. With 1.3 billion people worldwide living with disabilities—representing over $13 trillion in spending power—many businesses are still missing out. Travelers with accessibility needs often stay longer, spend more, and travel year-round.

He highlights that simple, low-cost improvements—such as QR code menus, captions, and accessibility guides—benefit not only people with disabilities but also older adults, families, and many others, illustrating the “curb-cut effect.”

Martin notes that the global aging population—now 16% over age 65 and expected to reach 25% by 2100—will further increase demand for accessible tourism. He emphasizes the importance of clear, online accessibility information so travelers can make confident decisions before booking.

He adds that investing in accessibility strengthens brand reputation, attracts purpose-driven employees, and appeals to socially responsible investors.
