Hopping on the ’80s trend, but taking it back to where we know it best: the hotel.

Before streaming, mobile check-in and digital keys, this was considered high-tech.

The in-room telephone.
The CRT television.
Pay-per-view movies.
A call to reception for just about everything.

Hospitality looked very different in the ’80s, but the goal was still the same: make the guest feel looked after.

So, let’s rewind and take a look at the technology that once felt futuristic.

From Concierge to Code.

See how far hospitality has come and what’s next at The Hotel Show. Follow along for more insights, trends and stories from the hospitality industry.

A new Hoxton is coming to Dubai, and it’s bringing something new with it.
The Hoxton is set to make its UAE debut in Dubai Media City, with a
230 room hotel that will also introduce the brand’s first-ever wellness club.

But this isn’t just another hotel opening.

The new property will combine hospitality, F&B, fitness and social spaces under one roof.

The property is being created through a multi-million-dirham transformation of an existing building, bringing The Hoxton’s residential, social style to Dubai Media City.

Global hotel brands are continuing to enter the UAE with concepts that go beyond the traditional hotel stay, creating spaces designed to bring together guests, members and the local community.

And with The Hoxton’s first wellness club launching here, Dubai is once again becoming a testing ground for what the next generation of hospitality could look like.

Is your hotel AI-ready?

AI is moving beyond trip planning and closer to the booking decision. For hotels, that creates a new question: Can AI find you, understand what makes your property different and recommend you to the right guest?

The guest journey is changing. Hotels need the right technology, solutions and expertise to keep up.

If your technology can help hotels navigate this new guest journey, enquire to exhibit at The Hotel Show, 1 - 3 June 2027, Dubai World Trade Centre.

Dubai's Creek is about to get its biggest glow-up yet.

Work has officially begun on Dubai Creek Lights, an AED80 million Dubai Municipality project that will illuminate 8km of the waterfront with over 5,000 lighting units. It's set to turn one of the city's oldest landmarks into a world-class nighttime destination by early 2027.

It's a reminder of what's driving Dubai's hospitality and tourism landscape right now: bold investment in the experiences that keep guests coming back after dark. That same momentum is exactly what brings the industry together at The Hotel Show, 1 – 3 June 2027, Dubai World Trade Centre, where the people building Dubai's next generation of hospitality experiences come to connect, source and plan what's next.

New lights on the Creek. New ideas on the show floor. Same city, always building forward.

Wellness has moved from hotel amenity to a core investment thesis.

From hotels and residential developments to standalone wellness destinations, the developers and operators building the region's next generation of projects are no longer asking whether to include it. They're deciding who delivers it and to what standard.

With experience advising on billion-dollar branded residence developments, Tea Ros, Managing Director of Strategic Hotel Consulting, challenges some of the industry's biggest assumptions – from why developers focus too heavily on launch-day sales to the operational decisions that determine success decades later. Location, positioning, governance and long-term operations, she argues, matter far more than a prestigious name on the facade.

She also shares her view on price premiums, brand saturation, wellness-led communities and the biggest mistakes developers should avoid as branded residences evolve across the Middle East.

The GCC's hospitality build-out isn't slowing down. New headquarters, new resorts, new five-star addresses, and a region that keeps raising the bar.

Whether you're supplying into this market, sourcing for your next property or looking to connect with the people driving hospitality across the region, this is where those conversations happen.

The growth is real. The opportunity is now.

Etihad Rail's UAE passenger network officially launched on 30 June, with the Abu Dhabi to Fujairah route now running in just 1 hour 45 minutes.

The full 900 km network will eventually connect 11 cities across all seven emirates by 2027.

For hospitality, faster inter-emirate connectivity means new multi-destination guest journeys, easier access for business and leisure travellers, while also creating opportunities for F&B and retail experiences.

This is what the future of hospitality looks like, built on connectivity.
