On 27 March, as part of the Proximities public programme, a panel featuring Maya El Khalil (ADMAF), Kyung-hwan Yeo, and Eunju Kim (SeMA) celebrated the launch of the two-part publication series Layered Dialogues: We Are in Open Circuits and Layered Dialogues: Proximities—capturing the curatorial journey behind the exhibitions.

The launch also marked the close of the landmark Proximities exhibition in Seoul, which welcomed over 75,000 visitors, with 400+ participants in its public programme.

As the largest presentation of UAE contemporary visual art in East Asia, Proximities brought together 110+ works by 47 UAE-based artists, including 33 Emiratis. It follows Layered Medium: We Are in Open Circuits, presented in Abu Dhabi in May 2025 as part of the ongoing ADMAF–SeMA partnership.
في 27 مارس، وضمن فعاليات البرنامج العام لمعرض "روافد ورُؤى"، عُقدت ندوة حوارية بمشاركة مايا الخليل من مجموعة أبوظبي للثقافة والفنون، وكيونغ هوان يو، وإيونجو كيم من متحف سيول للفنون، احتفاءً بإطلاق إصدار تشكيلي من جزأين بعنوان "الوسائط المتعددة: كلّنا دوائر مفتوحة" و"حوارات متعددة: روافد ورُؤى"، والتي تُشكل أرشيفًا لمراحل تنسيق تنظيم المعرضين، والحوارات التي دارت خلالها.

يأتي إطلاق هذه المنشورات بالتزامن مع اختتام معرض "روافد ورُؤى" التاريخي في سيول، والذي استقبل أكثر من 75 ألف زائر منذ افتتاحه، من بينهم أكثر من 400 زائر حضروا برنامجه العام.

شكّل معرض "روافد ورُؤى" أكبر عرض للتشكيل المعاصر الإماراتي في شرق آسيا، حيث جمع أكثر من 110 أعمال فنية لـ 47 فنانًا من الإمارات، بينهم 33 فنانًا إماراتيًا، بعد معرض "الوسائط المتعدّدة: كلّنا دوائر مفتوحة"، الذي أقيم في أبوظبي في مايو 2025.

Farah Al Qasimi is a multidisciplinary artist working across photography, film, and music, whose practice explores how images, emotions, and narratives circulate within everyday life. Drawing on storytelling and layered visual composition, her work often transforms familiar domestic scenes into spaces that feel at once intimate and uncanny.

In PROXIMITIES, Farah Al Qasimi is the artist-curator of the exhibition’s first section, A Place for Turning, and her works shown here form part of this section. Where the familiar and the strange merge, domestic life unfolds behind walls, creating concurrent realities we cannot see. In these spaces, home becomes a stage where the everyday transforms into something wonderfully strange.

PROXIMITIES, curated by Maya El Khalil and Eunju Kim, unfolds through three sections, collaboratively developed with artist-curators, proposing distinct ways of encountering and seeing. Scaling from the domestic and imaginary to the geopolitical and the elemental, the exhibition explores what happens when unstable and subjective worlds - personal, social, urban - come into contact.

Each area of focus proposes a different mode of encounter: everyday fabulation, mapping flux, and amphibious states of reciprocity. These propositional positions form a constellation rather than separate categories, their ideas flowing between and connecting approaches.
يتجلى معرض "روافدٌ ورُؤى" عبر ثلاثة أقسام، طُوِّرت بالتعاون مع فنانين قيّمين، مقترحةً طرائقَ متباينةً للتفاعل والرؤية. يستكشف المعرض، الذي يتدرج من النطاق الجغرافي والفنّي المتخيّل، إلى الفكري والمعرفي الأبعد، ما يحدث عند تلاقي عوالم شخصية، واجتماعية، وحضرية من ثقافات مختلفة.

معرض "روافد ورُؤى" بإشراف القيّمتين الفنّيتين مايا الخليل وإيونجو كيم، يطرح في أقسامه الثلاثة التي طُوّرت بالتعاون مع فنانين ومنسقين، طرقاً متميزة للتفاعل والرؤية. يستكشف المعرض، الذي يتراوح بين النطاق الواقعي والخيالي والجيوسياسي والعناصري، ما يحدث عندما تتجاور عوالم متحوّلة وذاتية - شخصية واجتماعية وحضرية.

Highlights from The Legacy of Mansour Rahbani, a special Art @ Embassies discussion presented by Abu Dhabi Festival, in partnership with the UAE Embassy in Lebanon and the Sheikh Zayed Chair for Arabic and Islamic Studies at the American University of Beirut, held at the American University of Beirut on 15 January, as part of the Festival’s Abroad Programme.

Bringing together H.E. Ali bin Tamim, Oussama Rahbani, and Hiba Tawaji, the conversation explored how Mansour Rahbani’s enduring body of work continues to inspire artistic thought, strengthen shared cultural heritage, and foster intercultural dialogue across the region.

Through Art @ Embassies, Abu Dhabi Festival continues to champion cultural exchange and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s role as a global hub for cultural diplomacy.

Highlights from Proximities, the landmark exhibition presented by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) in collaboration with the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), as part of the Abu Dhabi Festival Abroad programme.

Featuring works by Abdullah Al Saadi, Stone Slippers (2013); Ayman Zedani, The Desert Keepers (2022), courtesy and ; and immersive installation views from the exhibition, Proximities brings together more than 110 works by 47 UAE-based artists, including 33 Emirati artists, tracing five decades of contemporary visual art from the UAE across generations and geographies.

Abu Dhabi Festival presents the Arab World Premiere of “Ousafirou Wahdi Malikan” in Beirut on 13 January 2026, honouring 100 years of the enduring legacy of Mansour Rahbani, as part of the Festival’s Abroad Programme.

Co-produced by Abu Dhabi Festival and delivered in partnership with composer Oussama Rahbani, the landmark oratorio will bring together 34 poems by Mansour Rahbani, an original score composed and conducted by Oussama Rahbani, and a powerful performance by soprano Hiba Tawaji, alongside the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and a mass choir, at the historic Sacré-Cœur Church, Gemmayze.

Celebrating Rahbani’s profound influence on Arab culture, the performance reflects the Festival’s commitment to global dialogue through music and the arts.
ضمن برنامجه في الخارج، يُقدّم مهرجان أبوظبي العرض الأول في العالم العربي لعمل "أسافر وحدي ملكا" في كنيسة القلب الأقدس التاريخية بالجميزة في بيروت، يوم 13 يناير 2026، احتفالا بمئوية الراحل الكبير منصور الرحباني.
يضمّ هذا العمل الملحمي المميّز الذي يُقدّمه أسامة الرحباني 34 قصيدة من قصائد منصور الرحباني، وموسيقى أصلية من تأليف وبقيادة أسامة الرحباني، بمشاركة الفنانة المتألقة هبة طوجي، والأوركسترا السيمفونية الوطنية الأوكرانية وجوقة كبيرة.
يُجسّد هذا العمل، الذي يحتفي بتأثير الرحباني العميق على الثقافة العربية، التزام المهرجان بالحوار العالمي من خلال الموسيقى والفنون.

In 2024, Abu Dhabi Festival and co-produced Pictures at an Exhibition: The Paintings of Bob Peak. Ten renowned composers each created a movement inspired by the legendary artist Bob Peak, with the under the baton of Leonard Slatkin. Among the contributors, Emirati composer was commissioned by Abu Dhabi Festival to write a new musical movement celebrating Peak’s iconic paintings.

This August, the groundbreaking work will be presented at the Fireworks Finale of the 102nd Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival, marking its second-ever performance. The new presentation will be conducted by Ransom Wilson with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra.

في العام 2024، تعاون مهرجان أبوظبي مع "شركة روبرت تاونسون للإنتاج" لإبداع العمل الموسيقي "صور في معرض: لوحات بوب بيك". ألّف عشرة ملحنين عالميين إبداعات موسيقية مستوحاة من الفنان الأسطوري بوب بيك، بقيادة ليونارد سلاتكين، من أوركسترا لوس أنجلوس السينمائية. ومن بين المساهمين، كلّف مهرجان أبوظبي الملحن الإماراتي المبدع إيهاب درويش بتأليف مقطوعة موسيقية جديدة تحتفي بلوحات بيك الشهيرة.

في أغسطس المقبل، سيُعرض هذا العمل الرائد في ختام الألعاب النارية لمهرجان ريدلاندز بول الموسيقي الصيفي الـ 102، ليكون بذلك العرض الثاني عالمياً. سيقود العرض الجديد المايسترو رانسوم ويلسون برفقة أوركسترا ريدلاندز السيمفونية.
