Shawasha Hills Introduces Access Fee for Runners and Cyclists
Harare, Zimbabwe The upscale residential estate of Shawasha Hills has announced a new policy requiring all runners and cyclists accessing the area to pay a monthly access fee of USD $5, effective 1 March 2026. The notice, titled “Runners’ Access Notice,” was issued by SHOA Administration, the estate’s management body.
According to the notice, each registered runner or cyclist will be issued an access card that must be used for entry into the estate. The measure is described as a security enhancement and access-control initiative aimed at maintaining safety, security, and proper estate management within the exclusive Chishawasha Hills neighborhood.
Residents and visitors are asked to cooperate with the new requirement. For registration details and card collection, individuals are instructed to contact SHOA Administration.
The introduction of the fee has sparked discussions among local fitness enthusiasts about the impact of such charges on recreational access in private residential areas.
