RedFest is something we care deeply about. As a school, Redhill is incredibly passionate about the arts and about creating platforms where creativity, expression and community come together in meaningful ways.

As many of you know, RedFest is not run by a standalone events team, but is brought to life each year by the broader Redhill School team alongside our students, staff and partners. It requires significant time, energy and coordination across the school.

Unfortunately, a number of unforeseen challenges beyond our control in 2026 have required our immediate attention and have materially constrained our capacity. Rather than deliver a version that falls short of what our community has come to expect, we have made the decision to pause for 2026.

Yesterday, we had the honour of hosting the legendary ๐€๐ซ๐ง๐จ ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ at SundayFest โ€” and itโ€™s safe to say he delivered one of the most unforgettable performances in RedFest history.

An icon of South African music and one of the finest performers ever to grace our stage, Arno brought ๐š ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ, ๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ ๐ฒ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐ž๐ซ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐›๐ซ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž that had the crowd completely captivated.

A raw, unflinching look at the emotional turbulence of adolescence, it tackled everything from mental health and identity to loyalty, betrayal, and the dangerous cost of perfection.

Presented through powerful performances and deeply personal storytelling, ๐™†๐™ž๐˜ฟ๐˜ฟ๐™„๐™‰๐™‚ captured the pressure so many young people face to fit in, survive, and be โ€œenoughโ€ - all within the unforgiving intensity of high school life.

On Youth Day weekend, this production didnโ€™t just entertain - it challenged. It held up a mirror to the experiences too often whispered about but rarely shown with such honesty on stage.

As the curtain falls on RedFest 2025, I am filled with deep gratitude and pride for what we have achieved together. This year, RedFest not only showcased extraordinary artistic talent but also evolved into something even more meaningful - a celebration of youth, creativity, and voice.

For the first time, Youth Day was at the heart of our festival, and what a powerful, moving and joyful celebration it was! From dance and music to visual art and theatre, young people from across Johannesburg used the arts to speak their truth, share their stories, and inspire us all. The future of South African arts is bright, and this generation is bursting with talent, courage and vision.

To the schools and teachers who participated - thank you for believing in the power of the arts to transform, uplift, and educate. Your commitment to nurturing creativity in your students was so evident on our stages, in our galleries, and throughout our campus.

To the RedFest team - your tireless work, imagination, and unwavering dedication brought this festival to life. You are the heartbeat of RedFest, and I could not be more proud to walk this journey with you.

Yesterday, we had the absolute privilege of welcoming the phenomenal ๐™๐จ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ข ๐Œ๐š๐ก๐จ๐ฅ๐š to the Redhill SundayFest stage - and what a moment it was.

From the very first note, she held the audience in the palm of her hand with her warmth, power, and storytelling. It wasnโ€™t just a performance - it was a gift.

Yesterday, the Redhill Marimba Band wrapped up our Village on Oval market and music stage in spectacular style - bringing their inimitable energy, talent, and class to the final set of the day.

While the Village on Oval may have come to a close, our theatre programme continues today - and what a way to carry the spirit of RedFest into its final day!
