So, what is mead?
Noun - An ancient alcoholic beverage of fermented honey & water.

Mead, is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey mixed with water, and sometimes with added ingredients such as fruits, spices, grains, or hops.

The alcoholic content ranges from about 3.5% ABV to more than 20%.

Mead is believed to be the most ancient alcoholic drink.
It’s best known from the Vikings, but evidence of mead has been found across the planet. The oldest known evidence of mead was found in northern China, dating back to 7000 BCE.

The defining characteristic of mead is that the majority of the beverage's fermentable sugar is derived from honey.
It may be still, carbonated, or naturally sparkling, and despite a common misconception that mead is exclusively sweet, it can also be dry or semi-sweet.

Start the day off with Yoga in the garden hosted by Kerri at 9:30. This will be follow after Secret Sunrise (8:30-9:30) which you may want to join too.

Stay on and enjoy the day with friend & family. The program offers something for everyone.

There is no charge for the yoga. Please bring your own mat.

Kid's Zone @ The Mead & Honey Festival
We have an exciting program lined up for the kids at this years' Mead & Honey Festival in the dedicated Kid's Zone which is being run by Tania Hodston-Hoare from "Empower Me", and a much-loved Montessori teacher.

The program of activities will include games, arts & crafts, dance & drama, storytelling, baking, science experiments, face painting and lots of fun. Suitable for children 3-12 years.

Entrance to the festival is FREE for all children (U18).
A half-day pass into The Kids Zone, with all its activities included is R40 per child if pre-booked and R50 on the day.
