Over 400 Walkers and Runners Join Forces for Cancer Awareness at 5KM x CANSA Event
Knysna, South Africa – The 5KM x CANSA Walk/Run took place yesterday, Saturday 6 July 2025, at 9:00 AM as part of the Knysna Oyster Festival — bringing together over 400 participants of all ages for a powerful morning of movement, solidarity, and purpose.
Organised by Ondruma in collaboration with the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), the event aimed to raise vital funds for cancer research, education, care, and support services across the country. All proceeds from the event go directly to CANSA.
Participants walked and ran a scenic 5km route, starting at the Oyster Festival Hub on Waterfront Drive and looping through Long Street and the coastal promenade toward Costa Sarda, marked clearly with pink ribbons. The event was made possible by the enthusiastic support of volunteers from the Knysna Honorary Rangers and local traffic officers who ensured a safe and uplifting experience for all.
The presence of cancer survivors, patients, and their loved ones added deep meaning to the event. Their resilience served as a poignant reminder of why this cause is so important.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us. Every step taken today represents hope, healing, and a commitment to fighting cancer together,” said the event organisers. “It was a powerful moment of community in action.”
At the finish line, participants were welcomed with a bottle of water, generously donated by Cancer Care of South Africa, and a sachet of Saltwater electrolytes to aid in recovery.
