EXCLUSIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL, FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS
Sounds far-fetched right?! Let’s Crowd Fund a festival and let the Funders decide which bands / artists they want to see there? Well, what is the last Festival you went to in Limpopo where you actually saw an artist / band that was to your liking? Want to see big names in the SA music scene? Just Jinjer, Prime Circle, Francois van Coke, Springbo
k n**e girls, Fuzzygish, Desmond and the Tutus, LA Cobra, Black Cat Bones
(in no particular order) to name a few? Corporate sponsorship is extremely hard to find these days, and investors willing to gamble on a festival even more so...
Let's look at the basic costs to set up a festival:
Mainline bands range from R40,000 to R 75,000 per band
Supporting bands range from R10,000 to R20,000 per band
Local bands to fill slots before and after the bigger bands range from R2,000 - R4,000 per band
Stage, sound and lighting hire will set you back +-R150,000 for a 2 day festival that can cater for a 1000+ attendees
Security @ R20,000
Entrance control @ R30,000
Paramedics @ R5,000
Master of ceremonies @ R2,500
Event co-coordinator, Stage manager etc @ R50,000
If you have:
4 x Mainline bands @ R50,000 = R200,000
4 x Supporting bands @ R15,000 = R60,000
5 x Local bands @ R3,000 = R15,000
Total for bands = R275,000 (working on average prices)
Let’s add the following:
Stage, Sound and lights @ R150,000 (2 days)
Security @ R20,000
Entrance control @ R20,000
Paramedics @ R5,000
Master of ceremonies @ R2,500
Event co-coordinator, Stage manager etc @ R30,000
Total estimated cost = R502,500
Where does this leave you? The answer is quite easy. If we can get a 1000 people to pledge R500 for this festival, we have R500,000.

THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT NOW!!! Where does the Exclusive come in? Seeing that this is by the fans, for the fans... you CAN ONLY GET A PASS to the festival through this crowd funding campaign... no tickets to be sold at the gates!!!

Adult 18+ R500 p/p
Kids 12 – 18 R250 p/p
Under 12 FREE (accompanied by parents)
For every R500 you pledge, you get:
1 x Weekend pass, Camping site, Shower with hot water
Kids young and old will also have entertainment which will include:
Obstacle course, Jumping Castles and water worms, Team activities
(all activities will be supervised)
All funds are kept with Candystick (Crowdfunding website) until the due date or the target has been reached...
The venue is Warriors base camp (Magoebaskloof)
The bands and date will be decided by means of a poll in February 2018 if the campaign target has been reached, if not the date will be extended, or money returned depending on what is decided by the Pledgers. This is your chance to be part of something awesome, the outcome will be determined by the individual efforts of the people who shares the same common goal as we do...
