Early packet pickup is today, from 4-7 pm, east side of Riverbank Galaxy Theatre parking lot.

And for any last minute enthusiasts, late registration is also available from 5-7 pm (same location), as well as on site tomorrow morning 6:15-7:30 am.

Race day is just around the corner!

After a two year pause, the Riverbank Run for the Cheese is back and we can't wait to see everyone. Come on out for a fun run/walk, beautiful weather, and fresh food. Proceeds support local Stanislaus county youth running programs and RHS Cross Country and Tennis teams.

Races:
- 1 Mile Youth Run (for ages 17 and under)
- 5K Run/Walk gently rolling residential tree-lined course
- 10K Run gently rolling residential streets with a bonus hill

Registration is $25-45. Online registration closes October 5th. Same day race day registration will be possible on site. See website for more details.

Run for the Cheese in Riverbank, CA!
Saturday, October 8th 2022

Three Races in 2022:

5K Walk/Run
10K Run
Youth 1-Mile
plus, a Free Kids’ 100-meter Run
All participants will receive a medal!

About the races:
5K and 10K:
The 5K walk/run and 10K run travel through shady, quiet residential neighborhoods near the Galaxy Theatres in Riverbank. Both courses have a bit of a roll, and the 10K has a bonus hill. There will be water aid stations along both courses. The 5K is a baby stroller- and walker-friendly course.

Thanks to Galaxy Theaters for opening up early so runners can use those GREAT permanent bathrooms. NO port-a-potties at this event.

Race-day registration and pre-registered bib number and tech shirt pick-up begin at 6:15 AM. on the east side of the Galaxy Theatres.

Registration closes promptly at 7:50 AM. Both races start at 8 AM. Results will be posted, and awards will be handed out in chute.

Youth 1-Mile Race
Youth aged 17 years or younger are eligible to participate. This one-mile course starts and finishes at Galaxy Theatres, and winds through shady, quiet residential neighborhoods. This race begins at 9:30 AM.

Awards: All participants will receive a medal
5K & 10K: Trophy, Wheel of Cheese and two wine glasses to 1st place overall male & female

Medals: Top 3 places in each age division (male & female): 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

Youth 1-Mile: Medals to top 3 places in each age division: 7 & under, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17

Kids’ Fun Run: complimentary medals to all finishers

Message from the Race Director:

It is with deep regret that I feel that this year’s Run for the Cheese must be run virtually rather than in person. This difficult decision was made in the interest of the health and safety of the race participants as well as the many volunteers who help to put on the event.

The new Delta variant of Covid-19 is seriously impacting our community, with our current local rates of cases & hospitalizations approaching previous highs. In early June, when we decided we could hold the race, the rates of Covid-19 cases were at all-time lows.

Recently up to 25% of Riverbank High School’s students have been quarantined. During this past week, I have learned of five Covid-related deaths of volunteers’ family members.

Please be assured that all registrants will receive a race shirt and a participant medal. They will be available for pick up from me at the Galaxy Theatre east side parking lot on Thursday & Friday, October 7th & 8th from 4-6pm, and on race day Saturday, October 9th from 8-10 am. There will also be some wine glasses to be given away.

If you cannot come at these times, please contact me at [email protected] to set up a convenient time. I live close to Galaxy Theatre. The map of the racecourse is posted online. It is on public streets so anyone who chooses to can run it on their own time.

I am very sorry that this will not be the race that we all had looked forward to. Hopefully next year we can resume our traditional event, with all of the trimmings that make it special…the food spread, photo booth, face painting, & kids’ fun run.
