NEW MINIMUM WAGES IN MALAWI (Effective 1 June 2026)

The Ministry of Labour, Skills and Innovation has officially revised minimum wages for workers. All employers must comply starting 1st June 2026.

New daily / monthly rates:

Townships, Municipalities & other areas
➜ K6,057.70/day | K157,500.20/month

Domestic workers
➜ K3,220.00/day | K83,720.00/month

Micro & Small enterprises (turnover K5M – K50M)
➜ K5,048.09/day | K131,250.34/month

Truck Drivers (monthly):

• International (30+ tonnes) – K410,373
• Local (30+ tonnes) – K293,125
• Below 30 tonnes – K174,875

Minimum wage is a legal obligation – not subject to abatement (Employment Act, Section 55).

Employers: Ensure full and timely compliance.
