Asian Relations Culture Club was created for students to meet other students, whether current or new, through our gatherings and events. We use Asian Culture as a means of common ground, so it doesn't necessarily mean that you must be of Asian background to join. Our main objective is to create an environment for students to be comfortable and get to know fellow students with a common interest. If
you have interests in anime/manga, video game, kpop/jpop/jrock culture lovers, or Asian foodies, you’re bound to find a friend in ARC. Our story goes a little something like this:
Before this club existed, most members did not have a life outside of school (some did, majority didn’t). They were literally hermits, loners, and people too shy to make a friend in the new scary environment called university. Their everyday routine in the shoes of these students were going to class, eating lunch, class again, then returning home since there wasn't anything else to do after school. No friends to talk to, no friends to eat lunch with, and no friends to share about their new university life. On one lovely Calgarian day, a specific group of hermits and loners met up with each other. After talking about their current university experience and all the problems they had. They came up with an idea, and that is to create a safe haven. They named this safe haven ARC (Asian Relations & Culture club). Their new established home inside of school grounds enables them to express their feelings and unleash the inner beast that was hiding deep inside them through all the lonely months. Finally, no more eating alone and no more lonely days since now they have friends to hangout with. With this sense of belonging, university life isn’t that bad after all.
~Fast-forward a few semesters to the now established ARC club~
We happily welcome you with open arms, as we encourage new members to attend our events. Events are held biweekly and the clubroom is booked every Monday and Wednesday from 1-3. The clubroom is open to anyone during the stated hours to socialize, play games, eat out, sleep, or even do school work. If you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns about the club, feel free to contact us by sending a message via the page. Also, if you see any of the execs or club members walking around campus, say hi, we don’t bite! From ARC's Executive team (aka the ex-loners and ex-hermits),
We are glad that you considered being a part of our club. Hopefully your time whether short or long will be memorable, and we hope that we made your university life just that much better.
~ Team ARC
