And our finale unfolded yesterday!

came alive because of your presence, your curiosity, your conversations, and your ongoing support.

Over the past ten days, we shared far more than screenings.

We witnessed truths told with brilliance, travelled across cultures and histories, and experienced Africa through stories of resilience, imagination, courage, and hope.

To the filmmakers, sponsors, partners, volunteers, friends, and every team member who contributed their time, energy, and heart, we are deeply grateful. Your commitment shaped this year’s festival into a space of connection, learning, and celebration.

We look forward to welcoming you back in 2026 — bigger, bolder, and even more transformational.

Thank you for being part of this journey. 🌍✨🫶🏾🫶🏾

🎥 How does moving image keep decolonise history and restore erased voices? Join us African Cinema & Liberation Symposium — Sat 22 Nov, with Sir John Akomfrah & Billy Woodberry (🔗 Join our livestream!)

’s symposium brings together two visionary filmmakers whose work has shaped the political and artistic language of cinema:

Sir John Akomfrah is a seminal British-Ghanaian artist and filmmaker known for his influential works on memory, postcolonial history, migration, and ecology. A founding member of the Black Audio Film Collective, he has shaped contemporary visual culture through his films.

Billy Woodberry is a foundational figure of the L.A. Rebellion film movement. His acclaimed debut, Bless Their Little Hearts, explored labour, community, and social conditions, earning recognition at the Berlin International Film Festival. His broader body of work includes documentaries such as And When I Die, I Won’t Stay Dead, and Mário, which chronicle African and African diasporic intellectual and political histories.

Together, they represent influential currents in Black independent cinema and transformative storytelling across continents. Their dialogue promises to be an unmissable moment for anyone working in film, academia, history, cultural studies, or social justice.

We look forward to welcoming you.

TODAY EVENING at 5:50 PM! Join us for the Spotlight Opening Gala of DRC: Rising Voices with The Tree of Authenticity by , followed by a Q&A with actor Edson Anibal

🎬 The Tree of Authenticity offers a cinematic reflection on how colonial histories continue to shape our ecological and cultural landscapes in DRC 🌍

Set along the banks of the Congo River, this poetic documentary revisits the Yangambi INERA Research Station, now reclaimed by nature. Through the intertwined voices of two scientists divided by time but connected by legacy, it exposes how knowledge, power, and environmental injustice remain deeply entangled.
