Countdown to 2XU race day Sunday Morning 5th April 2026.
Since 2XU (pronounced 2 times U ) inaugural run in 2010 at Sentosa, this local half marathon,10km and 5 km have gained popularity over the years.
Come Sunday 5th April 2026,this will be the 14th edition of this popular local race.
One may wonder why there’s a need to start the 21km at 4.15am ?
Simple reason: Due to its huge popularity for the half marathon category, the tens of thousands of runners have to be flag off progressively in many waves 5 minutes apart so as to reduce congestion when running on the roads and pcn.
The early start time is also highly dependent on road closures cut off time (the time an event organiser have to open access to roads affected for the race )
People also wonder why it’s always the same route year after year etc and literally the same route for many local 21km road races.
Singapore is a very small city-state and our local authorities would want to ensure safety as much as possible and usually will try to avoid having thousands of runners running on many roads as much as possible.
Hence the reason why only certain roads are use for a half marathon in Singapore. Having safety as the utmost priority, event organisers will definitely do their best to ensure a good running experience for participants for the half marathon and 10km.
This is where pacing teams also comes into the picture.Pacing teams are not racing but there for a huge purpose.
Mainly, the pacers from different pace groups are there to assist runners looking for completion or for a better timing ( Personal Best )
The pacers are volunteers who is contributing to the local running community in helping runners.
All the best to all 2XU participants for this Sunday race !! Race safe !!
