Tournament History
The British Tour was first staged in 1991 in Sheffield with a young Tim Henman winning Sheffield the following year. The majority of top British players over the past 20 years have played including former world number 5, Jo Durie. In more recent times Andy Murray, Jo Konta, Naomi Broady, Kyle Edmund, and Dan Evans have all played the British Tour on their rise to the world stag

e. The Tour which has been sponsored by Aegon since 2009, has the goal to
‘provide a circuit of tournaments designed to give up and coming players the opportunity to gain experience in their quest to become professional tennis players, as well as providing a national level open competition circuit’. Player’s such as Naomi Broady, Dan Evans, and Liam Broady have all used the circuit within the last 18 months to provide some valuable match play, plus earn prize money to help fund their tennis. Whilst 18 year old Freya Christie particularly used the Aegon British Tour in 2014 and 2015 as a launch pad to develop and fund her tennis, contributing to her significant rise up the world rankings to inside the top 400 and a current British ranking of 7. In 2016 there are 33 events, plus the end of year Masters, whilst wild card opportunities exist into the Wimbledon Wild Card Play Offs, plus ITF Pro-Circuit events through performances on the Aegon British Tour.
