"He is a true son of Bukidnon and Mindanao." This was how Talakag, Bukidnon Mayor Renz Sulatan expressed his support for Senator Migz Zubiri

On his page, the Bukidnon Mayor wrote that despite not being endorsed and being a member of the Zubiri-led Bukidnon Paglaum Party during the last election, it doesn't mean that he has forgotten what the Former Senate President has accomplished for the Province of Bukidnon.

"Anak siya sa Bukidnon, garbo nato siya. Palangga nato si VP Sara. Pero unta dili nato siya kalimtan nga iyaha sad kita gipalangga og mas naila ang Bukidnon tungod usab sa ilahang pagpaningkamot sa pamilya Zubiri," Sulatan said.

Sulatan also wrote: "He never forgets his roots — he brings national funds, attention, and big projects straight to our province, not just to Manila. He is our strongest voice in the Senate; he ensures Mindanao is never left behind."

The mayor also highlighted Zubiri's track record and several projects. "Bukidnon Sports & Cultural Complex (Malaybalay) — world-class facility for sports, tourism, and youth development. Upgrading of Bukidnon Provincial Hospital — better, advanced healthcare for all. New Airport in Don Carlos — will open trade, tourism, and opportunities for southern Bukidnon. Roads, bridges, school buildings, irrigation systems, and water supply projects across every municipality. Donated dozens of ambulances and medical equipment to our towns and barangays."

Sulatan also appealed that "unta magpa bilin atong respeto kaniya."

GOODBYE, MALINAO CREEK AND KIAGONG FALLS? ‼️ Malaybalay City Councilor Flaviano Gapol, Jr. raised concerns over the reported gravel erosion incident in Malinao, Barangay Kalasungay during the Regular Session of the City Council. In his report, Gapol said that Malinao Creek and Kiagong Falls were reportedly buried due to the ongoing bypass road construction project.

The City Council’s Committee on Environment also plans to summon the DPWH, the contracting company, and DENR regarding the incident.

Gapol's fellow legislator, Councilor Jason Ayala, meanwhile, said that the contractor claimed they were unaware of the situation but assured they would address the problem once the project is completed.

Executive Secretary Recto Dismisses Plunder Complaint as ‘Harassment Case’

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on Monday strongly denied the plunder and technical malversation complaint filed against him and several Cabinet officials before the Office of the Ombudsman over the transfer of PhilHealth and Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) funds to the National Treasury.

“At the onset, the transfer was mandated by law under the General Appropriations Act of 2024. Inutusan ng Kongreso ang Department of Finance Secretary,” he said.

The complaint was filed by physician Tony Leachon, who accused Recto and other officials of illegally transferring billions of pesos in public funds under a provision of the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) later declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

In a strongly worded statement, the Office of the Executive Secretary dismissed the complaint as baseless and politically motivated.

“This is nothing but a nuisance and a harassment case,” Recto said. “And it should not be tossed aside gently. It should be thrown out with great force.”

Recto maintained that the transfer of PhilHealth funds was carried out pursuant to a legal mandate under the 2024 GAA.

He also cited separate opinions issued by several Supreme Court justices in the high court’s December 2025 ruling on the fund transfer, noting that the magistrates recognized that the Finance Secretary acted in good faith in implementing the law.

According to Recto, the justices stated that no criminal liability could attach to officials who merely implemented a law presumed valid at the time.

“The Supreme Court justices themselves said that I have no criminal liability because I simply followed the law and implemented it in good faith,” Recto said.

He added that the P60 billion transferred from PhilHealth has already been returned to the state insurer’s coffers.

Recto also took direct aim at Leachon, questioning the motives behind the complaint.

“This case is nothing but a harassment case by a person masquerading as a health reformer — a perennial applicant for health offices across several presidencies, but always rejected despite his aggressive self-promotion,” he said.

Leachon’s complaint named several other officials, including Health Secretary and PhilHealth Board Chair Teodoro Herbosa, acting Finance Secretary Frederick Go, former acting Budget Secretary Rolando Toledo, former PhilHealth President Emmanuel Ledesma Jr., and PDIC officials.

The complaint centers on the transfer of P60 billion in PhilHealth reserve funds and P107 billion in PDIC funds to the National Treasury under a special provision of the 2024 GAA.

Leachon alleged that the transfers contributed to a funding deficit in PhilHealth and constituted violations of the Anti-Plunder Law and provisions of the Revised Penal Code on technical malversation.

The Office of the Ombudsman has yet to issue a ruling on the complaint.

BREAKING: Senator Migz Zubiri moves to strike off from official records the video Sen. Imee Marcos played at the Senate floor alleging a supposed constitutional assembly or charter change plot to extend her brother's term as well as other accusations. He said that the video was mere "propaganda" and was unparliamentary.

Zubiri's fellow legislators such as Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, Bam Aquino, Kiko Pangilinan, Erwin Tulfo, Raffy Tulfo, JV Ejercito and Risa Hontiveros supported his move to strike off the video from official records.

Senator Panfilo Lacson also said that the video was an "outright lie."

A total of 769 drivers from Cabanglasan, Impasugong, Lantapan, Sumilao, and Malaybalay received cash aid on May 18 under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program to help them cope with rising fuel costs.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and Department of Transportation (DOTr) jointly implemented the assistance to help PUJ drivers manage rising operating costs and continue serving commuters.

Transport workers said the subsidy would help ease financial burdens and support their families’ daily needs.

“We are deeply grateful to President Bongbong Marcos for this fuel subsidy. For us PUJ drivers, this is not just financial assistance. It helps us stay afloat and sustain our livelihood amid these difficult times,” PUJ driver Jordillo Dacion said.

“I thank PBBM for this assistance. It does not just buy fuel; it also helps provide food and support my children’s needs. This is truly an answered prayer,” PUJ driver Conrado Epan said.

DSWD-10 Social Welfare and Development Officer Richelle Gay Magatao said the subsidy helps PUJ drivers sustain daily operations without heavily reducing their earnings.

WHY HE ABSTAINED 📣 Despite acknowledging the strong support of many people in Mindanao for Vice President Sara Duterte, Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. Jonathan Flores abstained from voting on the move to transmit the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte to the Senate.

He also said that the sentiments of his constituents played a role in his decision to abstain.

“It was a personal decision,” Flores said. “However, I could not, in good conscience, vote against because I was present all along when the Committee on Justice heard the articles when they were presented.”

Flores acknowledged the strong support for the Vice President among many people in Mindanao.

Flores, who serves as Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Justice, added that “it cannot be denied that a lot of people in Mindanao are actually for the Vice President (Sara Duterte).”

Despite abstaining, Flores said he respects the collective decision and consensus reached by Congress regarding the impeachment proceedings.

Popular political commentator Atty. Jesus Falcis questioned why Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. Jonathan Flores is part of the House prosecution if he abstained from voting.

"How can he prosecute a case he didn't vote YES to?," Falcis asked.

Falcis' post was related to Flores' move to abstain on the adoption of the House Committee on Justice’s recommendations to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte and transmit the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate for trial.

The Bukidnon congressman is among the prosecution team versus VP Sara Duterte.

Senator JV Ejercito has joined the Senate minority bloc and declined the position of Majority Leader.

During Monday's Senate session, when asked by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano whether he would be independent or with the minority “for the purposes of today” and unless a change is made, Ejercito said: “For now, Mr. President, I'll be with the minority.”

Ejercito joins fellow Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri as the latest additions to the minority bloc.
